  1. We got a wok with the ceramic coating. Works great!!
  2. A hot 10mm in a 16"-18" barrel is nothing to sneeze at. I ordered the gun.
  3. Thank you for posting that. Very, very informative. I was a chemist working in Fort Wayne for Inland. Small world, I guess.
  4. Olympic Arms is local to me. It'd be a little drive, but not so many gun manufacturers around here (but there is some storied history even closer, but that's another topic). Read their warranty and guaranty. Very strong. http://olyarms.net/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=17:warranties&Itemid=3&layout=default Frankly the risk of hassle of doing just the upper seems more risky than buying a fully functioning gun. I did a search for other 10mm carbines/rifles. There were a couple in the past, none presently. I think it's just lack of popularity not technical issues. Although Oly's first versions were fully gas actuated and now they are blow-back. Just as interesting if you look around on their site they make a separate carbine line in 9mm and and .45ACP with Glock lowers. I asked them if they made a 10mm with a Glock lower and no response yet. As for magazines, I read somewhere the blocks with grease mags had issues. Not sure what. Oly makes the specific purpose mag now. Interesting that MidwayUSA and others sells the Oly mags. Frankly the ONLY thing that slows me down is comparing the ballistics. I mean why not just get a 5.56? Save $100 or so: http://olyarms.net/index.php?option=com_...=7&Itemid=5 Heck get a 7.62x39 variant.
  5. What can I say, I like 10mm, but wanted a new 1911 under $1000. http://www.coltsmfg.com/Catalog/ColtPistols/ColtCombatElite.aspx

    My 3 1911's

I decided I really need more guns in 10mm. So 1911 it is, then AR-15 in 10mm. Bill - the Ruger is very nice, especially for the price.

    My 3 1911's

Yes. But I just ordered a new Colt Delta Elite.
  9. Good question. It really depends on which AK. Sure you can buy the cheapies under $500 with the laminated pin exposed furniture, terrible trigger, junky barrel. The nice ones equivalent to mine are now $800+. I tend to think the Saiga is a decent starting platform at $350. I have $250-300 or so into it and most of that was my ignorance buying 4 SGM 30 round magazines for the Saiga before conversion. They are actually good magazines, but not necessary if one converts the bullet guide. So it saved me the hassle of that portion, but cost me over $100 in mags (duh!)

  11. I don't really know jack about the SKS, but some guys say they shoot OK. I was just asking if they were fully auto when new, the got gutted to be sold in the USA. I think they were semiauto to start with. In this specific case, Cabela's sold the SKS's with a 1/4" hole in the chamber in just some of the rifles. Sad enough Cabela's didn't catch it, but dang people just chambered a cartridge and BLAMMO. http://www.seattleguns.net/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=72488 http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_1_5/1287723_Cabelas_possibly_sold_demilled_SKS_s.html http://www.sksboards.com/smf/index.php?topic=98975.msg1195426#msg1195426
  12. Nice. I'm not even in the market and it's tempting!
  13. What finish is that? It looks matte in the video. Is it as well put together as the Ruger? Nice price!
  14. Everyone with the $199 SKS got a call.
  15. With the big Cabelas "recall" (kinda sorta recall) going on, I have a question. If a weapon can be full auto, then the "full auto feature is removed" (just using expedient wording here) would that be called demilitarized or does demilitarized in the USA only mean destroyed so it can't be fired at all?
  16. http://www.lonewolfdist.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=948&CAT=241 Duh - It pays to read. Yep ""Use the standard G20 10mm magazine with this conversion barrel." I just put some .357Sig in the 10mm magazine and it looks pretty natural. I just wrongly assumed the shorter OAL would be a problem.
  17. I have a Glock 20 that shoots great, I have a nice huge cache of .357Sig ammo....and I can buy a .357Sig barrel for the Glock 20. I don't think I can use the 10mm Glock 20 mags with .357Sig. Hence the question: Will Glock 22 magazines work in a Glock 20?
  18. It is actually kinda ghetto cool, but flies off when I fire. I should bond it in place!
  19. Frankly at first I liked the longer supplied butt stock for normal shooting. But once I got used to "AK" style shooting, the short one is handy and authentic. The red thingie? It's called a plastic cover, nipple cover, or some other name. Comes in really handy at preventing scratches of all other wooden stocks! I have yellow and white ones in various sizes on all my bolt handles.
  20. So no one else here has done a Saiga conversion? I bought all the compliant USA parts. Trigger parts, short linkage, guard, etc. Also needed the gas tube, and the front mount, furniture and magazines and Hogue grip and Chinese strap. First the unfinished birch furniture: sanded, then sanded wetted to raise the grain three times sanding each time, final time no raised grain. Stained them with aniline red water based stain, finished with shellac and MilOx and then wax. The receiver was taken apart (drilled out), old holes welded, sanded/ground. Duracoated black. New parts installed moving the whole trigger assembly forward. Furniture, etc installed. It shoots great. The new trigger is way smoother with no crunch. The only bummer is the typical short AK butt stock. I wish I got the longer style, but it wouldn't have been authentic.
  21. Yes that's a concern. Just grabbing by the rail to remove. Pushing from the top of the rail to insert there should NOTHING sticking out....
  22. I just got an email from my FFL - Earl. Buck's Gun Shop. The guy is pretty awesome. Full refund. I'm just having him order the P238 for me $569.43. Done deal. I'm tired of some gun sellers and their rudeness. I will ask him as time goes by how S&W handles this. Wow - what a lemon.
  23. This is the one I bought: http://www.bulldogcases.com/case-vaults/...products_id=235 No way would my Kahr CM9 fit. It says the S&W BG will fit. No way, if it was 1/2" longer and 1/4" taller yes. So just a hair larger and the P238 should fit.
