  1. All excellent input!!!! THANKS Not to stray too far, but somebody at work said they bought an import 1911 .45 KIT for about $200 and assembled it at home. Cleaned a few things up and it was fun and shoots pretty good. He said he got it from a guy who's dad is a gun dealer but didn't mention a name or anything I could search for (I searched Gunbroker.com). Have you seen such a thing?
  2. I like these kind of videos, but agree more shootin' would have been nice. I would have liked to see him cycle the gun a bit, rack it....slam some some ammo in, slide the mag in and out, etc.....light abuse... He doesn't look like a 9mm small semi-auto kinda guy!
  3. The Hickok 1911 video got me really all fired up. I've never owned a semiauto pistol. It will be mainly for fun plinking. 9mm is abundant and cheap. .45ACP is just very intriguing. Other rounds are interesting. Main thing is cost of the gun I suppose. $400 or so max. I love input from you guys (as opposed to semi random jokes on BITOG )
  4. He is a good shot. Not bad at distance. I'd love to have a 1911.
  5. Well....if you want to sell one or the other, Pablo is available....you can keep all the expendables....
  6. Good idea. NEXT caliber and when I have reloading gear.
  7. You are too easy. Actually I don't mind the baffroom readin' material via US MAIL. It's the dern throne calls that chap my hide - I'll tell them to DO NOT CALL.
  8. I wish they would lighten up on the heavy handed begging. Turns me off - that's why I QUIT and that only made it worse!! My wife was actually pretty angry about the amount of times they called. I'll bet the donations would be about the same if they went a little lighter and think of all the money saved not begging. Anyway, anyone who will have me as a member.......
  9. Yeah that's what I'm getting. Thanks!
  10. Any brands better than others? Any weird side stories?
  11. American Rifleman for sure. I was a member for about 5 years in the 1980's. They have been bugging me ever since....they were always the first "charity" to find out we moved each time.
  12. Or I should say I RE-joined the NRA yesterday. I was about due anyway, frankly I did get tired of hitting me up for money. It seemed like the right thing to do, plus it's required for joining: http://www.svrifle.com/index.htm

    I missed out. Dang!!
  14. You guys are going to cause me to spend money. I know it.
  15. Makes sense. Can't wait to fire the beast.
  16. Another good subject on PS! I just bought some 44 mag (Winchester 240 gr) - these look like they have a serious crimp. Will this be a bother with future reloading?
  17. Well, that was my thinking. This ammo has a crimp in the brass below the bullet, will that cause a problem reloading?
  18. 25% off ALL ammunition. I got a 50 box of Winchester 44 mag for $29. I know that's expensive for you reloaders, but comparing to the web, not a bad price.
  19. Fun!! Now you know why I thought a lever action .44 Mag will be a fun rifle!
  20. Baggie? Who knew?? I was thinking of a bunch of cases with sticky labels....
  21. I don't think I'll have any issue with exploding weapons - but I will be VERY careful with powder measures and such. One thing that seems like a weak point if you say use the same bullets, but different powder loads - Is there a common system people use for "labeling" finished ammo? Let's say you do 25 (or whatever) of three different loads. Sure you will separate them but.......let's say you get distracted and don't remember.....just asking....
  22. Tom - if you had to do it over again, would you buy this set up?
  23. Anything special I should know? Main reason for reloading: Can make custom loads (hot or slow) Save some dough Fun If you know anyone or have equipment, dies, etc to spare, let me know.
