  1. As much as I ragged on MidwayUSA - I will say they have good sales. Check out the prices on the Mk II&III magazines, including the 22/45. $16.99 - that's a GREAT price. I'm buying 4. IN STOCK! And I just bought 3 on Gunbroker! (2 for 17.99 each, one for $19.99!!!)
  2. Learn so much stuff here - my brain is filling up!!
  3. Not sure when you ask like that. Single Action Army?
  4. The flash washed out all the detail and no time to adjust. I'm hoping in spring I can get some better pictures. It's way nicer that it shows in those shots (couldn't use them for sale....not that I would ever!!!!)
  5. Neat idea. Not easy because of the rinsing and drying part? But alas - very clean and with proper chemistry, essentially no metal loss.
  6. Have you looked at the lowest cost HF tumbler?
  7. I rushed some pictures. They suck, I know: 20 yards:

My crappy shooting at 10 yards: Here's how I improved the sights (haven't shot with it yet this way):
  9. I have zero time to take pictures right now.
  10. Stubby Revolver also, I suppose. My 53 yo close up vision has really gone lousy. I used to have exemplary vision all around. 20/15 and better! I wear glasses at the PC, reading, any work actually - but glasses are just an aid - glasses are not perfect for many reasons I won't go into here. The glasses I have now are somewhat refined after 5 plus years of messing with prescriptions. They are progressive lenses that allow me to walk about and see at a medium distance - even at a distance where I need no correction. However, I can still see 20/15 like an eagle at 2 yards and beyond without my glasses. You young and vision blessed guys have it made. Now here's the stupid part. Learning to see through progressive lenses actually trains your eyes in odd ways - the worst part IMHO, it makes shooting a short hand gun very tough. My eye tries to focus on both sights and even the sights and the target. Interesting that my longer barrel Blackhawk is just long enough that with my unaided eye I can focus on the front sight, and shoot fine. So - anyway. Any tricks or tips? Should I try and shoot with my progressive lens glasses? I'll need goggles over the top me thinks. Speak up glasses wearing shooters. Thanks!
  11. SWEET!! I missed that. Bookmarked!!
  12. I exaggerate a bit. The time I missed the target was at 20 yards. I think with my new sight markings and frankly - unlearning the way I've had to learn to see through progressive lenses - will be much better next go around. Last time I shot any gun - I did NOT have glasses, I can tell you that much. I see fine beyond 36". Close up and out to the end of the Sig are fuzzy with no correction. Please google: How to Aim a gun With Eyeglasses Maybe you can help me a bit!
  13. That's the guy, but I was looking for some DIY stuff. EDIT: I did email him for a quote.
  14. I saw a guy in Cowboy Action newspaper who does this - but I'm thinking I will do it myself. Have you run across any articles on this very subject?
  15. I started at 20 yards, then backed down to 10. I found the 9mm semi to be a vicinity weapon........I kid, I kid!! But seriously a number of shots did not connect with paper with the Sig. I don't think any of Blackhawk shot missed completely.

Yes I can rent a variety of guns: http://www.wctle.com/services
  17. No pics yet - I will also take pics of the targets as well. Someday! I was just SO much more hugely accurate with the Ruger. Don't tell anyone but I was pretty bad with the Sig. It's like the sights didn't make sense, but my eye was fighting to focus because the sand berm is very dark as well..... Then I started firing with the Ruger....Bam, click, Bam Click, Bam Click. Maybe a just a hair low and to the right but a decent amount of 10 pointers (25 yd slow fire pistol targets). The sights made total sense to my eye, there is no other way to put it.

That's what I did!! But I used the daughter's white nail polish, then on the front sight put a neon red dot on top of the white. Looks slick. Much improved!
  19. I used to be a bit biased against indoor shooting....nevermore.
  20. This gun is as sweet to shoot as it is to look at! Shot a box+ of 38 special. Wow that is such a friendly round to fire. Then I shot 24 rounds of 357 mag. The gun just had a good time with those. Sure a ton of flash and a super healthy kick but I wasn't flinching and seemed to be the same accuracy as the 38's. After that I rolled the 9mm barrel in. Weird - more kick than the 38 special rounds, but the revolver just ate those up as well about the same accuracy - in other words - I'm more inaccurate than the gun. The sights on this gun just agree with me. Don't let anyone kid you, 25 yards with a pistol indoors is no tame duck shoot. My eyes aren't near what they used to be and so many years of rifle shooting has taken a set. I need to practice. But I did OK and I sure like my Ruger convertible. Thanks for the recommendation camu!!!

I know somewhere I mentioned I bought this gun. It's a 1983 model very similar to G-man's review from 2010. Mine has a bit more holster wear. Mechanically the gun is quite sound. It came with a new spring (unlike G-man's). The barrel looks fairly new as well. It does have a little kick to it, but fun to shoot. I only have two mags, wish I had four. I've put four brands of ammo (around 170 shots fired) through the gun and I must say I've never had a set of sights that suck so bad. Line them up, whatever - it's just that they are hard to see for my eyeballs. I see how Sig solved it in new P225's - they white dotted them and that makes a HUGE difference! I'm going to paint white dots on mine or get a pro upgrade. Anyway I had fun at the new range today!!! http://www.wctle.com/home
