Barry, I see what you are saying about using barrel vise jaws vs an upper receiver block to remove the barrel nut. A twisting force is still applied to the upper receiver if you use the receiver block, but if you use barrel vise jaws, no force is ever applied to the upper - much better concept. I think this would be a good set of vise jaws. However, with the free floating handguard on my varminter I think a receiver block is still necessary. The handguard is extremely tight to the point where considerable torque needs to be applied to break it loose. I'm afraid I would cause damage without some kind of a block to reenforce the upper while removing the handguard. Wayne Wayne

It's been a day for reading American Hangunner articles. This article about STI International 2011 really piqued my curiosity about the 2011 platform. I have been thinking about a purchasing a 1911 chambered in 9mm, but the 2011 does seem to have some bennefits in weight and capacity. Anyone own/owned a 2011? I would be curious what your impressions/opinions are. Wayne

All, I was reading this article in American Handgunner magazine today and came across the FMK 9C1B pistol, which I have never heard of. It's American made in Placentia, CA. The slide is engraved with the Bill of Rights and the grip serrations are micro engraved with the names of some of our founding fathers - pretty cool. Anyone own one? I wonder how they perform? Jim, This is a hull I reloaded probably 10+ times. You can see that the more you reload the more powder residue the hull will have, it's perfectly normal. Happy Reloading, Wayne

xtell, I ended up shooting the rest of my IMR4064 25.5g behind a 55g BTSP loads. Really a great load, but the 4064 doesn't meter the best on a progressive press. I'm about to buy some H-335 (unless there is a better suggestion?) Wayne

I own both a XD and a XDm. The XD is every bit as good of a gun as the XDm. If I were in the market for one, I'd easily choose the less expensive XD over the newer more expensive XDm. Just my $.02, Wayne

Several Remington 870's have suffered cracked receivers at the trap club where I shoot. I know the loads that each shooter shoots in their guns and they loads are certainly not 'hot' loads. The only thing I can think of is that it's simply a fatigue problem. All of the cracked receivers have been fired over 20,000 times. Is the 870 known to crack when fired extensively? If that's the case, maybe I'll stop using my 870 for trap. I bought it brand new when I was 14 and would hate to end up with a garbage 870 Wingmaster. Wayne
