Do you keep the boxes your guns came in?

I'm getting a collection of boxes guns are packaged in when purchased new. I've never used a single one for anything, other than to collect dust. I have always kept them just in case I sold or needed to ship the gun.

Is there any good reason to keep them?

I keep them but I'm not sure why.

An old Python box can be worth $100. If it's the actual box, with matching #'s as your Python, together they may be worth a $200. premium (if the pistol's exta nice and just the least bit rare).

I tend to keep handgun boxes and pitch long gun boxes.

The new, lockable handgun cases are keepers. I keep the long gun cases for the warranty period, the toss them.

All my older S&W boxes I keep. I have the original cardboard and walnut boxes my .44 AutoMag came in.

I have a 1974 1911 with the box so I looked at the numbers and they do not match. Too bad I did not look when I bought the 1911 in 1974.

Just the biggest pistol and longest rifle shipping boxes. In case I ever have to ship one back to the factory, and all the cases, boxes or containers that held the weapon. My attic is not full yet, but I'm working on it.
