Dan1045 Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 Mine was a .50 caliber out of an IMI Desert Eagle.Dan Quote
G-MAN Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 I had a Ruger Super Blackhawk .44 Mag. That's the biggest handgun I've ever shot. Thing kicked like a mule. Only way I could shoot it with relative comfort was to put oversize Pachmayr grips on it. Quote
Dan1045 Posted December 12, 2009 Author Report Posted December 12, 2009 The Desert Eagle hardly kicked. It was so heavy I could barely hold it up and its sheer mass damped the recoil. My Officer's ACP colt is tougher to shoot.I really would love to shoot a .475 Widley though. Like Charlie did.Dan Quote
Scotty Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 .45 auto and .44 magnum for me. The .44 mag was pretty impressive. Quote
G-MAN Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 .45 auto and .44 magnum for me. The .44 mag was pretty impressive. Yeah, I guess if we're going strictly by caliber, the "biggest" handgun I've ever shot is my .45 auto. The most "powerful" handgun I've ever shot was my .44 Magnum. Quote
Arkie_Lefty Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 My Colt Anaconda(44 Mag). Pretty easy going till you load up some hot 300gr.! Not in any hurry to shoot any of the 455,500,etcs. Nothing to prove, and pretty pain shy if I have a choice.Bob Quote
wwillson Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 Ruger Super Redhawk .44 Magnum - shot a friend's at the range. He had both 240grain loads at about 800fps, which were really nice to shoot. Then came out the 300g factory loads - not fun to shoot, but didn't kick like all the horror stories you hear.Wayne Quote

RLH70 Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 I did have a 500 S&W,but traded it for an AR-15, I still have my 454 Casull and shoot it quite a bit. The recoil is really not that bad even shooting 360gr hardcasts. Quote
Moe Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 500 S&W. What a beast! 1 shot was enough. This thing had a compensated 4" barrel and it was LOUD! Never again. I enjoy my hands too much. Quote
RLH70 Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 I made the stupid mistake of shooting my ported 454 with no ear protection once, cost me some permanent hearing loss in my left ear. Quote
rugerman1 Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 Biggest handguns I ever shot was when 45nut visited Pa:50 Alaskan and 458 Win Mag T/C Encores Biggest revolter I own is a 500S&W (thats a 44mag on the left) Quote
wwillson Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 Rugerman,I always wondered about you...! Some day I'll have cool stuff like that too.Wayne Quote

wwillson Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 Ken IS obviously a nut. He's a good man.Wayne Quote
rugerman1 Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 "Ruger"man owns a S&W.. Ruger don't make any 500S&W firearms A Super-Duper Blackhawk and a 96/500 lever rifle would be a neat 500 Mag combo,huh? Quote

Only way I could shoot it with relative comfort was to put oversize Pachmayr grips on it. Try the 44 mag in a double action the recoil seems half . and in a desert Eagle even less. The recoil in a Blackhawk is nasty I owned one for a month in the early 1980s. Quote

Tom Posted December 13, 2009 Report Posted December 13, 2009 I've shot .44 mag out of a Desert Eagle. Just like Dan1045 mentioned, the gun is so heavy there is not much recoil.A friend just got a .454 casull I'll have to try out. Quote
