  1. Wayne, Looks familiar! Here is mine that I built. EXCELLENT shooter! (pardon the mess.. my NORMAL mode) How accurate? Lets just say out to 300 yards (have not tried any further) I would not want to be a milk jug... Take care and enjoy the new rifle!
  2. I'd guess so. I've never tired a light load in any of my AR15s. If I want to shoot light put in the 22lr conversion or grab one of the dedicated 22lr uppers. My mindset is if I want to shoot .223, I'm going for the AA2230 and NOT waste a bullet. Take care, bill
  3. I love my M&Ps. Too bad you have a POS mag there... I'm sure you feel safer for it. The anti-Americans sure do. Let us know about the seer and how it does for you. I've found about 200-400 rounds ANY gun gets better. Take care, bill
  4. On the other hand, the place I went is a little shop (they do quite a bit of gun sales) that has a range under the store. Its not the prettiest... I understand they have to pay for new stuff but when prices are already high thanks to the salesman of the year and add in a less than stellar economy... It will be tough.
  5. Local shop here got some in (I was there when the truck arrived) and I picked up 5000 small rifle for $22 per 1000. Also got 2000 small pistol for same price. Still too much but I figure they will never get lower. $50! Wow.. Someone is making some profit! Bill
  6. Here I still can not find most primers. Lucky to find large pistol ones for $34 a brick. Everything else is still MIA I have not seen a small rifle primer in stock here for over a year now. Last time I did see them (June 2008) they were $19 a brick. Nope. Cost to do business has increased and with the clown and his idiots making stupid rules (laws require congress) the cost to produce, inventory and such will make us WISH for $34 per thousand primers. Glad I stocked up when they were $9 a brick. But someday I'll run out... Bill
  7. That is my dream someday too. Prob will not happen but you can dream...
  8. Yes for the most part holographic are more $$. And yes, you can get magnification on both. Some put the dot in a "normal" scope and others have a magnifier that flips/sits in front of the holographic/red dot unit. Take care, Bill
  9. Thanks Wayne! Happy SAFE Thanksgiving! Just got back from the shooting area and it was PACKED! Made a few new friends with the guys beside us and their sons. Nice to see young men being brought up right! (The Fathers were making sure all the trash was being picked up, when we arrived all the boys had their rifles in their arms with the muzzles all pointing up, fingers off the triggers) Take care, bill
  10. Holographic has a image (usually a few dots for range and can project onto the device any thing that they want). A Red Dot is just that. Red dot in the tube. I've got both, a few Red Dots on my 22LR rifles and Holographics on my AR15s. Here is a Holographic unit (works great) Eotech And a Red Dot unit (this is the one on my Daughters 10-22 which she loves to shoot) Red Dot sight Take care, Bill
  11. Take a USED one (I have the wife trained to keep them) cut it in quarters and place those in the media along with the brass. The brass comes out clean and the sheets keep the media clean. Throw the VERY dirty sheets away after each use and enjoy the same media for years! Take care, bill PS: I like the Snuggle brand as it makes the brass smell nice! (Just kidding)
  12. I've used it. Works sorta well. Gets dirty real quick and does not last long. I find good old walnut with dryer sheets works the best for getting the powder resdue off and dirt. Lasts forever. Corn with polish for making things shiny (after the walnut) Bill
  13. Yes. It's prob the next website I'm going to join. I'm on AR15.com. Visit many others. Bill
  14. I've got a Tasco on a 22 mag and 2 Simmons on 22lr and they are good to go. Put them on a 30-06 and it may be a different story! But they are good scopes for the $$. Esp the Simmons.
  15. Without question. The 2nd time. But when you buy a new scope, take it out to zero it and find out that shooting the scope it looses zero is not something that would be high on the list. Once they had it fixed, its been a excellent scope. As good as any other I've looked through. Leupold is a excellent brand with perfect service. But you do pay for it and personally the Nikon is a little clearer in my eye. (and to be honest, I've only looked through his Nikon less than a dozen times and my Leupolds thousands of times...) Take care, bill PS: LOVE your tagline!
  16. I have. The gun came back ok and I then sold it. It was better than it was before I sent it. Model 29 BTW. Take care, Bill
  17. I had one in a .223. Good HONEST rifle. Would put 3-5 shot group @ 200 yards within a quarter. Sold it to finance another AR project. Here is the thread of the rifle over on BITOG! .223 single shot rifle Take care, Bill
  18. Very poor. If you can find them expect to pay $33-$40 per brick of 1000. And if you do, they limit you to a brick total of ANY type. Bill
  19. Brass. A little hoppes 9 (the real stuff before the EPA) and above works well. But I only have a few loads and guns that lead a little. Everything else is pretty clean. Bill
  20. The big thing is the muffs do cover part of the ear and the bones inside I've been told by my Ear doctor. If it was up to him, foam plugs FOLLOWED by muffs. I've lost some of my hearing from flying planes, working in large Mainframe computer rooms and shooting. (and getting older) But I do have to wear a wide brimmed hat (family has a history of serious skin cancer) so muffs are out. (I guess I could mess with the sun block and then wear a normal hat) The closest I get to a fellow shooter is 100 yards unless they are with me. Then we just stand behind and the plugs work great. Like I've said before, I don't do formal ranges (esp indoor) Take care, Bill
  21. Foam plugs since I wear a hat out in the shooting area. Push them in so they are secure and they work well even with the magnums. I just pull one out if I want to hear someone. Work has them with the little string. A set will last me about 4-6 months. Over 30db rating. Take care, Bill
  22. I use the copper cleaning pads that you find for cleaning cookware. Take a magnet to make sure it IS copper. (some of them are copper colored metal) Use tin snips to cut in half, take a few strands around a jag and out comes the lead. Bill
  23. Not if you have a "de-mooner" tool. Sorry for the poor photo, late and I need to get going to work! (I've got web access in my work truck so I'll check in later) Take care, bill
  24. I used to have quite a few Glocks and have shot tons of lead in .45acp and .40 S&W. (Always had other sources for all the 9mm ammo I needed) The lead was not as accurate as the copper bullets (and I tried MANY different loads) and as long as you kept the velocity down no leading problems. My other pistols with normal rifling are more accurate with lead than the Glocks. I have seen a few kabooms with Glocks and each one was with copper bullets not lead. Take care, bill
