Griz Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 My nephew bought a Remington 710 a couple of years ago and found that the action was really stiff. He took it to a gun smith who said there was nothing he could do to make it any better. Has anyone had this problem with this model and if so what did you do to fix/repair it?Thanks, Griz Quote
Griz Posted February 8, 2010 Author Report Posted February 8, 2010 It been shot enough to break it in. That is not the issue. I have never felt an action this stiff before that is why my nephew took it into a gun smith hoping there was something he could do. I think his next step is to get a-hold of Remington and see what they say.Griz Quote
Tom Posted February 8, 2010 Report Posted February 8, 2010 It seems like the gunsmith would have been able to hone and lap it to make it smooth. Is there something different about a 710 that makes it more difficult to work on? Quote
Arkie_Lefty Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 Find a new gunsmith. This was my first thought also.Bob Quote
Griz Posted February 18, 2010 Author Report Posted February 18, 2010 I suppose taking it to another gunsmith would be a good idea...but I have a lot of confidence in the one I took it to. He has been a gunsmith for over 40 years and does work for people all over this country and Canada. Does anyone own a Remington 710 that the action works fine on? Griz Quote
