Welcome Tom. Small bore is great. I have as much fun with a .22 as anything else. I'm partial to Rugers myself. But, I think the M&P is a great gun.

I seem to remember a lot of grease on mine also when I took delivery. Took that off and replaced with oil before firing the first time. Putting a box or two of ammo through it first thing is a good idea. If there is a problem (unlikely) it's best not to find out during your class.

Agree. The whole gift thing is just a big distraction from the real meaning. My family has everything they need and most of what they want, so it seems gifts get more and more pointless every year. My kids are teenagers and it was more fun when they were little. Must be getting cynical in my old age.

May I suggest you spend a few bucks on a Hogue rubber grip if you think the stock grip is a little too slick. They work great.

Actually, Hi-point sort of discourages disassembly on a regular basis. The gun shop guys recommended bore and chamber cleaning for hundreds of rounds. Then hosing it down with something like Gun Scrubber when it gets really grimy.

I've had a P95 for about a year and I love it. Shot about 500 rounds through it without a single problem. The gun is a great value and you will not regret the purchase. The Sigma is the only other gun on your list I have experience with. Worked fine for me but I like the P95 better. Don't be concerned about the rails. My bet is that there will be less wear than you would get from steel on steel. Mine shows no wear at all. Have fun.

Moe: I clean my guns after every shooting session. Every 100 rounds on average. I use the patch with Hoppe's, 3 or 4 dry patches, then a patch lightly oiled with CLP.

For my semi-autos I never shoot anything other than copper clad bullets. Is there any need to ever use a bore brush? Generally, I just run a patch through soaked with Hoppe's #9. Is copper build up ever a problem?

Bought it and and put a hundred rounds through it yesterday. Shot 50 rounds WWB and 50 rounds aluminum case Blazers. No failures at all. Accuracy is as good as any other gun I have. Has some kick to it though. Had a ball with it. This will be my "fun" gun.

Think I'll avoid the carb cleaner just in case. The brake cleaner worked great. Nasty stuff to breathe though. I'm using it outside from now on--and with gloves.

Yes. Got it today and can't wait to shoot it. Gun shop guys says he sells a lot of them and gets few complaints. Reviews I saw are good. Some comments about it being ugly. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I like its looks. I see it as a workingman's gun. Functional and reliable with no gingerbread. Not meant to be a work of art. I'll put a couple of boxes of ammo through it this weekend.

Always wanted one of these and I can no longer resist. Local shop has one for $159 and I'm going for it. I like the concept: U.S. made, inexpensive, and apparently reliable. I even like the looks for some reason. Anyone have experience with these, good or bad?

I'm careful to keep it away from plastics, etc. Seems to work great. Just hose it down. Much cheaper than the gun specific products. I suspect it's probably the same stuff anyway.

I only have two revolvers right now. Both older guns. First is a Ruger Service Six that I really shoot well with. Had it about 25 years. Second is a mint condition S&W Model 28 Highway Patrolman purchased in the late 70s. Both good guns. I don't carry so I like larger frames and 4 inch barrels. I've been going through a semi-auto phase the last few years so I have neglected revolvers. However, I'm getting interested again and would like to get a hold of some of the older S&Ws to play with.

Yes. The finish is my concern. It didn't seem to bother the bluing. Not sure about long term use though.

Took a can of brake cleaner to my Ruger Standard .22 the other day (removed the plastic grips first). Did a great job. Lubed everything with Breakfree CLP afterward. Am I asking for trouble doing this? Surely I'm not the first to try it.

Nice to be here. My interests are primarily handguns of all types. I shoot whenever my wife and wallet permit. In other words: Not nearly enough.
