  1. I purchased some Remington Golden Bullets from Walmart at a good price: $14 for a 550 round box. These are .22 LR high velocity hollow points. Took a couple of hundred to the range and I had failure-to-feeds about every 3 or 4 rounds in my old Ruger Standard pistol. They strip from the magazine OK but get stuck crossways before they enter the bore. This gun has always fed any kind of ammo I put in it without fail. Afterward, I shot 100 rounds of 25 year old standard velocity Federal ammo without a failure. Just my experience with these. Think twice before buying some to use in any semi-auto. I'll save the ones I have left for my old bolt action rifle. Wayne: Have you ever considered adding a .22 rimfire forum?
  2. That's funny. A guy at work has a skunk in his attached garage right now and it refuses to leave. We spent lunch hour today trying to figure it out. We didn't come up with anything.
  3. Just what I needed to know. Thanks.
  4. Getting 50 to 60 mph winds and upper teens or lower 20s tonight. Fortunately very little snow
  5. Was it something unique about this gun? Or is that the case with the lightweight snubbies in general?
  6. Looking at a Taurus Model 85 Ultra-Lite revolver for CC. I can get a new one in blue for $300. Does anyone have experience with this one, or even Taurus revolvers in general? Is a comparable S&W snubbie worth the extra cost? Taurus was questionable at one time. But I understand they have stepped up their game.
  7. G, I want to own a gun shop in your neighborhood.
  8. Strike that. Use whatever gun you are most familiar with.
  9. I would use whatever gun you shoot best with.
  10. The gun shop guy was singing the praises of this stuff the other day. Apparently it's a all-in-one cleaner/lube/protector. The lube is dry film. Anybody have experience with it?
  11. Great rifle. Keep that one in the family.
  12. Interesting choices. You guys have me thinking now.
  13. In terms of versatility a .22 would be a close second for me. Sounds funny but I have a Ruger Standard purchased new in 1980. It has never failed me and I'm deadly with it. That would be my choice in .22. I always wanted a S&W K-22 Masterpiece. Still slightly prefer autos though.
  14. I wasn't really thinking about revolvers, but we can talk about those too. I suggest a Colt Python .357.
  15. Just for conversation. What would it be? Assume cost is no object. Doesn't have to be currently manufactured. There are no wrong answers. I like still like the Browning Hi-Power. Classic gun. I also like 9mm as a good all around caliber.

GMAN: Did you shoot it yet?
  17. It's funny. I did reload about twenty years ago. Had a pretty nice setup. Then, I just lost interest in shooting period and sold all the equipment. Duh. My interest in guns returned a couple of years ago because I have more time to devote to it. May get back into the reloading end once I get tired of paying for factory ammo.
  18. Put another 100 rounds of ammo through it a couple of days ago with no failures. That makes 200 total. I've now invested 1/3 the cost of the gun in ammo in the few days that I've had it. My $160 gun will drive me to the poorhouse. Seriously, it's a lot of fun. I like simple and no frills.
  19. A Sears side-by-side 12 gauge when I was in my late teens. A cheap gun. Thought about sawing it off for home protection but resisted the temptation.
  20. I use Hoppes for cleaning and CLP for lube. Never had a problem with either on polymer. Some people will laugh, but I use a light coat of WD-40 on the exterior for corrosion protection.
