I really only worry about the case neck, if the case body is that far out I simply discard it.

Could be caused somewhat by the resizing die but more likely just from the normal case stretch.

That will certainly affect accuracy, I use an RCBS case master concentricity gaging tool and a Forster outside neck turner, but I am into groundhog and coyote hunting so I try to wring out as much accuracy as I can.

Never owned a S&W. After starting with Colts, just seem like everything is arse-backwards.I own both Colt and S&W revolvers, I tend to lean toward my Smiths, the pull back cylinder release has just never appealed to me, just seems unnatural.

I think it is the top one, going by the grips and the fact that the front sight is set back slightly.

The hottest and most destructive gasses are those closest to the center of the radius. I can simply look at my revolvers and see that some gas cutting occured early on and then never got worse.
Besides if gas cutting is not limited I would think that some if not all of my revolvers with many thousands of rounds through them would look like the one above.

That's true Bill, but since flame cutting is a limited process, in that, once the material on the top strap is removed to a certain point the remaining material is far enough away from the gasses as to not be affected any longer unless hotter and hotter loads are used.

I have the 4-16x50 Mil-Dot on one of my varmint rigs, I am very pleased with it.

I was assuming it was flame cutting, but just assumed hot loads since my brother has that exact gun and has to have in excess of 7k rounds through it with only minimal flame cutting, now if the insert failed or was missing that's a whole other ballgame.

Do you know what kind of loads were being fired in that? I am thinking super hot handloads?

Bob kinda hit on it, both my marlin 60's are pretty finicky about ammo. My Rugers will shoot anything I feed them.

Thats pretty much all i use. I do have a hand held Knight & Hale EZ-Howler that I use for locating.
The Foxpro is the best e-caller I have used.
