  1. Well I picked it up today, I actually bought this and a Ruger Blackhawk 357 for $575. I wasn't going to buy the Ruger, but for $275 I couldn't pass it up.

This guy has a huge collection, I told him to call me if he decides to sell anymore guns.

  2. That is exactly what he was asking, but it's the plane jane parkerized model so I only offered $300 and figured I would come up a little if I had too. Of course before I buy it he said I could run a couple mag's through it too. I have a feeling I will get it, I don't think there are very many buyers around here right now, heck I was saving that money for a scope to go on another project?

  3. What's the scuttlebutt on this rig? A friend of my brother needs money and is selling his, I offered him $300 for it, 4 mags and a custom made holster, he is going to let me know this week. Apparently it is less than a year old, he still has the bill of sale.

  4. The length makes me think some sort of "Long Tom" but the slide and action are reminiscent of an old Spencer pump I've read about, not really sure?

Looks like undummy beat me to it on the oil board....

  5. I won't get into the caliber argument, but as far as the rifle goes, if you are in the market for an inexpensive bolt action you will be hard pressed to find one better than a Savage Axis. I would add the Stevens 200, which is made by Savage, but the Axis is going for a little less than the Stevens.

Personally from what I have experienced I would not buy the Rem 770. My nephew has one in .243 and it will group no better than about 2" and that's not including the flyers. Also a buddy at the range had one that grouped about the same. Plus the rifle just feels flimsy to me.

I have been shooting my brothers Axis in 22-250 and it will shoot 3/4" groups all day with factory ammo. I find that to be the norm with Savage though.
