What's your favorite melting pot?

I have a Lee Pro 4-20 bottom pour 20lb pot that works very well. I think this pot is one of the best values on the market.

I have an older LEE,I can't say it's my favorite, it's just the one I have.

I use a bottom pour Lyman Mag20 mostly.I have a smaller ladle lyman pot and a big propane fired smelting pot.Each one has its specific uses.

Is your smelting pot a plumber's pot? Or, was it purpose built for bullet casting?

An old plumbers pot I got from my casting mentor.I'll take a pic soon.It needs newer fittings to be re-filled.Gotta see who is up on the conversion.

Don't tap on the valve rod, the spout may fall off.

How is the spout fastened to the pot? I've never noticed, but would assume it's welded somehow..

Nope, it's jammed on there.

The hole is .43" diameter, and the flange on the spout is .44"

There's a jam nut on the bottom for tension.

I'll have to remember to be careful with the spout. I have had to clean zinc contaminated lead from it, but always do it while hot with a length of wire after removing the plunger.
