wwillson
Virtually every kaboom story I see relates to reloaded ammunition. Has anyone seen a kaboom that was documented to have been caused by factory ammunition? Wayne
Moe
I have actually seen 2. One was a Glock 22 with Federal ammo. The 40 S&W case seperated at the base and blew the magazine out and actually broke the frame. No harm to the shooter, just shook up a little bit.The second was a Smith & Wesson 1917. The shooter was shooting factory .45 acp Winchester 230 ball and the top strap disappeared. He wasn't hurt but the gun was destroyed. It was almost like it was severly out of alignment. Never really fiqured that one out.
Squibload
Lots of reported KaBooms with Glock series in 40-45 caliber. Both reloaded and some with factory ammo. Go to www.thegunzone.com and you will find many documented examples. I don't think the 9mm ever goes, or if so it is very rare, but the bigger calibers have more than their share of KaBooms. Bill_in_Utah
I've seen a few with factory loads. Mostly with Glocks and once with a Beretta. In all but one, the firearm took the hit. One with a Glock the shooter took a piece of brass in the face (remember those shooting glasses guys!) The Beretta was with a +P+ 9mm load. (corbon load) the Glocks with .40 S&W and one with a .45acp
