Based on what? I don't know anything about them.

I'm going to order one. The M400 Enhanced. I just can't decide on COLOR. Seems silly I know! Black? OD? FDE? What do you guys think?

See the articles in Gun Digest and American Rifleman on the M400. The feel really solid compared to the rivals in that same just below $1000 range.

  2. Are you meaning that if, for example, you take a regular 5" .45 1911 and put a 6" or 7" barrel in? Or Glock's long barrel for the G20?

    Any semi-auto pistol.

But the only guns I have longer barrels for are my two Glocks.

The G20 I have a 6.2" 10mm (threaded) and a 6.2" .357Sig. And for the 17L I have longer threaded barrel - longer than already long barrel. All Lone Wolf brand. Nice barrels for the price. Better chamber fit than the sloppy Glock.

Take the G20C. It comes with a 17# spring. The gun shoots fine with all types of 10mm ammo in both barrels - yes the compensated barrel does make the tupperware feel really light. Being the guy who can't leave well enough alone I bought the extra barrels. What a joy with the .357Sig and the 10mm - the longer barrels are real velocity beasts. And accurate to boot.

So wanting to shoot hot 10mm ammo, I bought a 20# spring and a stainless guide rod......well all I get is spent cases in the face, as if the recoil spring is too stout. Why they don't make a 18 or 19# is beyond me. The 17# stock spring seems just fine with the longer barrel and standard loads even vs, the shorter ported barrel. Hmm....not scientific at all.

  3. What a sweet shooter this gun is!

It's actually most pleasurable to shoot the hottest 10mm loads with the 1006. I put it through the paces today. Didn't have any issues. Tracked a little low first couple shots getting used to the sights, but after that, the hotter the ammo the better I shot the thing. I think I was overpraising the Glock 20 as a good 10mm, but something about this heavy beast just makes it pure joy.

  4. I just put the gun through a 3 day cleaning cycle. Detail cleaning I guess you could call it. I even soaked and scrubbed the grip. This gun is pretty sophisticated for the day - which means lots of nooks and crannies. But I soaked and scrubbed in various cleaners and I could see grime coming out. I used a lot of Ballistol, Hoppes, various appropriate solvents, spray lubes, a variety of scrubbers, swabs and orange sticks.

The barrel itself is quite clean. It looks like someone de-leaded it manually doing the screen patch method. Regardless no copper or lead build up now.

I must say that it improved the appearance greatly. The stainless steel still has some mars and such, but no deep scratches to start with. The grime missing from the cracks makes an amazing difference - it screams: Been treated well, just well used - vs. nobody ever gave a fruit about this gun. Why someone wouldn't do this cleaning to sell the thing is interesting to say the least.
