  1. Some of those features. The RIA is parkerized, not blued. And it doesn't have the extended slide release.
  2. If you can get it for $300, BUY IT!

  4. I have a FireStorm Gov DLX (aka American Classic II) which is also made in the Phillipines. It's got all the bells and whistles that you would order on a high-end 1911 (like an Ed Brown). The Rock Island 1911s tend to be mil-spec, park'd models. If you want adjustable sights, adjustable trigger, and other goodies, you should consider the American Classic II:
  5. Here's an interesting comparison. I think I'd rather pack a 40 than a 9mm, all else being equal. Code: Ruger LC9 Kahr CW40 Caliber 9mm 40 S&W Barrel 3.12" 3.6" Weight 17.1 oz 16.8 oz Length 6" 6.4" Width 0.9" 0.94" Height 4.5" 4.62" Firing mechanism Hammer Striker Slide Blue Stainless Current online price ~$400 ~$375-$400
  6. I've been toying with the idea of getting one of these compact 9s for carry, so I'm glad Hickok did this video. I still think the PF9 is junk, and his video on that gun pretty much confirmed my opinion. The LC9 looks good, but I still think for the same price the Kahr CW9 would be the better gun: It's the same size as the LC9 but weighs less. Stainless vs carbon slide. Striker vs hammer fire. Both made in the USA, and you don't need any "tools" to take down the CW9.

  10. Glock 31, 32, 33. SIG P229 (in 357 SIG, this is the standard sidearm of the US Secret Service). I think there are other SIG models chambered in this round, too.

    S&W 4006

I'm thinking about getting a S&W 4006 to round out my semi-auto collection. I don't have a .40 and I figured I'd go with the pistol originally designed and chambered for this round. Thoughts?
  12. No, but if you find one for that price and don't want it, let me know.
  13. I think you should just get an SVI Infinity Tiki 1911 and be done with it.
  14. Launching 1 oz lead slugs out of a 7.5 lb gun is going to beat you up no matter what. Even the best recoil pad is just going to soften the blow somewhat. In the defensive shotgun class I took a couple weeks ago one exercise was firing five slugs rapid fire, reload, fire five more and I felt like I'd just stepped out of the ring with a prize fighter. All in all I fired around 100 rounds of slugs, 00 buck, and birdshot and my shoulder was black and blue at the end of the day.
  15. One other option would be a P97 (used, of course). It's got the improved linkless P95 operating system and a polymer frame.
  16. Unfortunately, that story is pretty typical of the type guys that run small gun stores. I purposely avoid the two main gun shops here in town because the guys that run it act like they are doing you a favor by letting you walk through the door.
  17. I didn't realize that. You should look at the used P90 prices on Gunbroker. Lots for under $400.
  18. Have you looked at the P345?

  20. He has a facebook page but not a web site.
  21. He may talk about it in one of his VLog videos. I've not watched all of those.
  22. After getting an LCP, PM9, and P380 I was wondering if Hickok45 was going to give a Kel-Tec a try. He has: "> " type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350">
