Practically Shooting

Now moving into the "cartridge ammo' era finally

I've recently decided to start collecting/shooting 8mm Mausers. I've already negotiated for my first one: a Russian capture K98-K and will likely grab some of the Yugo surplus models for shooting. Probably a couple 24/47's.

It seems modern ammo for these is a bit pricey unless I go with surplus ammo. I've heard that the surplus ammo is very corrosive and should be avoided. What's the real deal?
