RebinPA Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 I've recently decided to start collecting/shooting 8mm Mausers. I've already negotiated for my first one: a Russian capture K98-K and will likely grab some of the Yugo surplus models for shooting. Probably a couple 24/47's. It seems modern ammo for these is a bit pricey unless I go with surplus ammo. I've heard that the surplus ammo is very corrosive and should be avoided. What's the real deal? Quote
Tom Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 Corrosive ammo is okay; you just need to clean soon after shooting. Quote
RebinPA Posted November 20, 2011 Author Report Posted November 20, 2011 Ok. From what I've read, the commercially available rounds are really lacking in power.I'm planning on "saving" the german gun and getting 2 24/47's for use and as spare parts while deals are out there. Quote
