wwillson
All,You'll see at the red arrows that my Lee mold has a lead build up at the bottom of each cavity. I've tried plastic scrapers, with little success. I really don't want to use a knife or an awl, as those will scratch the mold. I've thought about heating the lead to melt or soften then scrap it off, but I'm afraid of warping the mold.Any ideas?Wayne
Tom
soldering iron / desoldering tools...maybe?
wwillson
Tom,The soldering iron worked like a champ. It heated the lead up just enough that I could wipe it off with bronze wool. Now the deposits are gone and I'm ready to start casting .452 bullets again!Wayne
45nut
GO ahead and dip that mold,, you will not harm it. use a wood stick to swipe off the lead once the mold is hot.
wwillson
45nut,So you are saying just push the mold down into the molten lead, let it heat up, then just wipe the lead off when I pull the mold out?Wayne
