  1. Could be. Or, with it being gas-operated, maybe a different powder to make the gas volume and pressure needed. You're walking on a lot of relatively new ground here.
  2. That is really neat. Misfeeds? Hard to say. Adapting mags of a different caliber won't help the troubleshooting I'm sure. If forced to guess, I might start playing with cartridge OAL. Nice looking range! It reminds me a lot of my old club that Indiana Univ closed down because they are...never mind. Don't get me started.
  3. That is cool. How many 10mms fit the mag?
  4. That's a different list of powders than what I see in not-so-far-away Indiana. I see a little VihtaVouri; nothing I need. IMR I see in fast and really slow rifle, and some pistol/shotgun. Nothing between 3031 and 4831. Some Accurate. LT32, 4064, 2460, and their really slow ones. No handgun, and no faster rifle. Very little Alliant. Similar to IMR- Reloder 10x then jump to Rl25. A scattering of Hodgdon. Leverevoltion, US869, 100V, Superperformance, maybe some H380 or H414. No pistol, nothing from H4895 through H4831. If a can Varget showed up, there would be a riot. Absolutely no Ramshot at all. Winchester not so bad in rifle. No 231 or 296. Primers good.
  5. She saw Brave first. But, for her birthday, we took her older sister and several friends (and her) to the second Hunger Games movie, and that probably helped seal things up.
  6. Aha- That partially explains his license. I don't know if it's still true or not, but at one time, IL had the highest number of the various FFL types that allow Title II items. It was assumed that number was so high because it was the only way to own them.
  7. A Type 10 is "Manufacturer of Destructive Devices" and is fairly uncommon. I think the number nationwide hovers around 200. Many will be recognizable manufacturer names to the average gun guy, like FN, Dillon, etc. Most so-called "machine gun dealers" are Type 07. Here is ATFE's list of Types with a chart you can use to find license holders by state. http://www.atf.gov/content/firearms/firearms-industry/listing-FFLs I'm sure you've researched the process, but since you have plenty of time to read while you wait, here are some links that include SBRing: http://www.titleii.com/bardwell/nfa_faqhtml.html (This one hasn't been updated in a few years, but while other parts may have changed, I don't think the SBR process has changed in that time. ) A link of links, including the above: http://www.subguns.com/laws/laws.htm Of course a search on "SBR process" will no doubt get a few thousand explanations...some of which may be right:)
  8. I'm all a-quiver and it isn't even mine.
  9. Might not be the most uniform burning. I bet Chrono results would be interesting.
  10. There were a couple of 9x25s around local IPSC matches 15 or so years ago. I shoot a 10mm fairly regular, but just watching those 9x25s made me flinch! Such muzzle blast. Impressive ballistics though.
  11. I have a 10mm case that looks a lot like that. Quite exciting, isn't it?
  12. It took a while for confirmation, but the rumors were true. The SSG-69 has been discontinued per the following email I received from Steyr USA last night: The World Famous Steyr Sniper Rifle to be Retired in 2015 The World Famous SSG 69 is set to be retired after 40 outstanding years in service, however we are pleased to announce that one of our distributors decided to buy 1,000 units before the production line stopped. If you are interested in one of the last of these iconic pieces, you can contact CDNN Sports in Abilene, Texas at 1-800-588-9500 or online at http://www.cdnnsports.com/firearms.html?brand=1253. The last 1,000 units were produced in 12 different models PII and PIIK (some are the first ever with threaded barrels). They will be offered in single trigger, double trigger, green and black stocks. They each come standard with a factory mounted 20 MOA picatinny rail. Also, do not fear if you are the current owner of an SSG model, SAI will still both warrant and perform factory service on all models and have spare parts available.
  13. I hear Savage is now making a 10-Rd mag. Part number 110570; $57.00.
  14. Keeping the products, calling them "Remington". http://www.thetacticalwire.com/story/339001
  15. I know what you mean. A few people have shot my Steyr Scout and commented it "recoiled like my ____Mag". The stock on the Steyr fits most people so well the recoil is soaked up, but on the few it doesn't, it apparently whacks them. Stupid laws of physics.
  16. Pablo- How is that Lightweight Hunter doing? Some of us were discussing the redesigned Savage Scout rifle, when someone mentioned this model. His point was Savage could have based their new Scout on this and come closer to the ideal Scout. Probably correct. Anyway, that got me thinking about yours, and wondering how it has worked out. You are the only person I know who has one.
  17. Pablo- I still think that, and all 6" Trooper MkIIIs, are beautiful guns. The lines and proportions are all right. I can't believe I had a (newer) 6" Trooper MkIII in .22 that I never shot and traded away. I once watched an argument between a competitor and range officer over the match legality of his handgun. He was shooting in the stock revolver class with no modifications allowed, including action tuning. I don't recall which model or caliber, but he had an old N-frame S&W. The DA trigger was so nice the RO could tell it by watching, and thought he had some trick action work done. The (older) match director intervened and verified that yes, they were once MADE that way.
  18. So it will use modified Grease Gun mags too? How big a deal is that? Cooly cool. Keep us posted. And don't be so scarce; I'm tired of doing (almost) all the talking here. Everyone else has to be.
  19. Are you using their upper, too? If I'm reading right, it's gas operated and not blowback, correct? I'm very interested. The wait just makes you appreciate it more. At least that's what I heard when I was a kid. It's BS, but I thought I'd say it anyway.
  20. I guess it would work, but that's about all. I'm still wanting to try Lil' Gun, CFE Pistol, and BE-86 in 10mm. Ever used those?
  21. Oh yeah- welcome back from wherever you've been hiding.
  22. I like it in 10mm. In fact, I'd say it's my favorite in 10mm, but there are a couple of powders I want to try in 10mm yet. I don't know that it would be very good in 45 ACP- a bit slow burning for that.
