  1. All excellent input!!!! THANKS

Not to stray too far, but somebody at work said they bought an import 1911 .45 KIT for about $200 and assembled it at home. Cleaned a few things up and it was fun and shoots pretty good. He said he got it from a guy who's dad is a gun dealer but didn't mention a name or anything I could search for (I searched Gunbroker.com). Have you seen such a thing?

  2. The Hickok 1911 video got me really all fired up.

I've never owned a semiauto pistol. It will be mainly for fun plinking. 9mm is abundant and cheap. .45ACP is just very intriguing. Other rounds are interesting.

Main thing is cost of the gun I suppose. $400 or so max.

I love input from you guys (as opposed to semi random jokes on BITOG grin )

  3. I'm a member also. All shooters should be.

It seems like I payed to join an elite club that invites me to send them more money and buy more crap... Wine club, insurance, coins, gold, commemorative (fill in the blank), DVDs, books, along with donations to the various divisions of the NRA.

I wish they would lighten up on the heavy handed begging. Turns me off - that's why I QUIT and that only made it worse!! My wife was actually pretty angry about the amount of times they called. I'll bet the donations would be about the same if they went a little lighter and think of all the money saved not begging.

Anyway, anyone who will have me as a member....... grin

  4. I don't think I'll have any issue with exploding weapons - but I will be VERY careful with powder measures and such.

One thing that seems like a weak point if you say use the same bullets, but different powder loads - Is there a common system people use for "labeling" finished ammo? Let's say you do 25 (or whatever) of three different loads. Sure you will separate them but.......let's say you get distracted and don't remember.....just asking....
