  1. Don't know if you've been following Hickok45's vids on his new PF9, but he's been having trouble with the magazine ejecting under recoil. He's been bending over backward to appear fair and unbiased when it comes to this gun, and you can tell he's really struggling not to just call a spade a spade and say it's a piece of junk.

    Here's his latest posted comment:

I emailed Kel-Tec a couple of days ago, and they answered that they would put the new mag release in the mail to me. I'm assuming it's not that hard to replace - I didn't plan on having to become a Kel-Tech gunsmith the first week or two of owning one. :-)
  2. Wow - I would have expected larger as well.

Did you get it from GB.com? Total?

How is the trigger pull? I'm really liking my FN-P 45 trigger.

Don't get me wrong, the 4006 is still a big chunk of steel. In doing a closer comparison it is a littler larger than the P225--more like a Commander size 1911 (but with a wider slide and thicker grip)--but still smaller than what I was expecting. Definitely smaller than my Ruger P95.

Trigger seems a bit odd and I'll reserve judgment until I get the gun to the range. The DA pull is great. The SA pull feels like a 2-stage trigger.

I got it from GB. Total with shipping was $375.

  3. The 4006 came in today. What a nice gun. Fit and finish inside and out every bit as good as SIG, IMHO. t-up

Someone has been shooting cast boolits through this booger because the barrel is heavily leaded. Got it soaking in Ballistol now.

  4. Didn't see any on Gunbroker....prices are???

I like the model 70 on paper as well.

Most of the "high end" 1911s (like the Ed Brown) use the Series 70 firing system. They meet the drop test through the use of stronger firing pin springs and lighter firing pins (titanium).

  5. OK - so I will compare the totals vs. local and post them up.

    $1070+$15 shipping (pretty good!)+ $70 License fee+ $100 sales tax. $1255

So far - no local price except the one.

    $976+$92 sales tax. $1068

    Thanks!!

BTW - You think I could put wood grips on that?

What is the $70 license fee? The FFL transfer? Can't you find a local pawn shop dealer who will do it for $25-$30?

  6. Not worth it to buy an out of state in an auction gun here unless it's an exceptional deal - and I'm not seeing that for 1911's on Gunbroker. After the price (which I know can get nearly the same locally), then I'll pay shipping, then the license fees, and now sales tax!

Well, you said you couldn't find a new Colt, so all the benefits of buying locally are moot if there is nothing to buy. That's why I suggested Gunbroker.

  7. Tnoutdoors9 is a friend of Hickok45. He does a lot of ammo tests on YouTube and a few shooting vids, but he just got a new Colt 1911 and posted a pretty nice review:

  8. Welcome to the forum.

A "stovepipe" is a misfeed in a semi-auto pistol where either the unfired round doesn't chamber and sticks up like a "stovepipe," or the spent cartridge doesn't eject properly and jams between the slide and chamber throat, again sticking up like a "stovepipe."

  9. Well I offered him 300, I think he is gonna wait to see if he gets a better offer by the end of the week? If not, it's mine.

Tell him you want the opportunity to meet or beat his best offer. I'd personally go $450 on that gun if it's like new.
