  1. I purchased some Remington Golden Bullets from Walmart at a good price: $14 for a 550 round box. These are .22 LR high velocity hollow points. Took a couple of hundred to the range and I had failure-to-feeds about every 3 or 4 rounds in my old Ruger Standard pistol. They strip from the magazine OK but get stuck crossways before they enter the bore. This gun has always fed any kind of ammo I put in it without fail. Afterward, I shot 100 rounds of 25 year old standard velocity Federal ammo without a failure.

Just my experience with these. Think twice before buying some to use in any semi-auto. I'll save the ones I have left for my old bolt action rifle.

Wayne: Have you ever considered adding a .22 rimfire forum?

  2. Looking at a Taurus Model 85 Ultra-Lite revolver for CC. I can get a new one in blue for $300. Does anyone have experience with this one, or even Taurus revolvers in general? Is a comparable S&W snubbie worth the extra cost?

Taurus was questionable at one time. But I understand they have stepped up their game.

  3. In terms of versatility a .22 would be a close second for me. Sounds funny but I have a Ruger Standard purchased new in 1980. It has never failed me and I'm deadly with it. That would be my choice in .22.

I always wanted a S&W K-22 Masterpiece. Still slightly prefer autos though.

  4. It's funny. I did reload about twenty years ago. Had a pretty nice setup. Then, I just lost interest in shooting period and sold all the equipment. Duh.

My interest in guns returned a couple of years ago because I have more time to devote to it. May get back into the reloading end once I get tired of paying for factory ammo.

  5. Put another 100 rounds of ammo through it a couple of days ago with no failures. That makes 200 total. I've now invested 1/3 the cost of the gun in ammo in the few days that I've had it. My $160 gun will drive me to the poorhouse.

Seriously, it's a lot of fun. I like simple and no frills.

  6. Most all full auto sub guns are blowback, capable of using HOT milspec ammo. Why would closed bolt semi not be acceptable? These things have just about as much snob apeal as an AK. Also like an AK,,, if you pull the trigger it's GONNA GO OFF!!!

Come on guys,,, this is a $150. plinker! Blast away, hose 'er down with brake cleaner, if it gets too worn, damaged, or dirty to function, put it of on some sucker (preferably a dealer) at a gun show and get another!
