  1. I like the ones with the Celtic checkering! She is half-Irish you know...staying true to her roots! Sweetness!

My dad had stag horn grips on the .41 Magnum Blackhawk. I grew up thinking they were etched ivory but they were stag horned.

I will say Pabs you will really enjoy that gun with all the grips out there. You can even shoot in some cowboy action tournaments with it!

    I am a bit jealous! t-upcheers2

  2. Ah so the pimps in WA are wearing SMOOTH wood grips! Nice Nice!

"Add a little romance to your favorite single action with high quality grips cut from exotic materials. Precision machined from the finest hard woods and synthetics to look better and wear longer than the originals."

    ^That's from the website...SOLD!

Too bad Esmeralda don't make grips for it Pabs would be all buying those I bet!

  3. Yah we're gonna get rolled! LOL laugh

I just want access to the 1000m range! I just ordered some M75 Sniper ammo from J&G. If it ain't here by Saturday we will be shooting Yugo surplus from the 50's...

If we can't hit any of the targets during sight-in we will just put the rifle in the car and hang out and ask questions.

Just getting my brother out of bed that early on a Saturday morning is going to be an achievement. Should I use a firehose and what psi and temp should I run the water? And what knife would be good at prying teenage hands off a Playstation controller in case he wakes up and immediately attaches to the electronic device.

One big plus...no cell phone service at the range.

  4. Next Saturday I will be taking my little brother to compete in a Stalingrad Military Match at the local rifle range. From what I understand any bolt-action rifle used in WWII by the Axis or Allies is eligible. Iron sights. Shooting out to 600m. Steel targets.

The lil bro will be shooting my Yugo M24/47 7.92x57mm JS. Just like this one.

We will be allowed to sight in our rifle at the various distances before the competition which will be our first time shooting beyond 200m. Do any of you have experience with these type of matches? What about the ballistics of the 8mm Mauser? Any recommendations for ammo? I have Yugo surplus that shoots high at 100 yards. This is merely a learning experience for us and nothing more. We are not expecting to win especially since many of the competitors are seasoned veterans to this style of match. And many of them are shooting the K31 Swiss with handloads!

Kinda late to be ordering ammo with 6 days to the competition but if you know a good source I'll buy...

  5. Duh on my part. I have seen LE before. sleep

I highly doubt, in fact I know these aren't LE guns. I suspect Barry is correct, I didn't know so many sold. Sub $500 for some really nice .40 guns.

What brand of semi-autos are we talking about? Right now the local Cabela's has a ton of used handguns. I was really surprised by how many used XDM's compared to used plain jane XD's were in the display. Quite a few big boomers for sale too! I wonder how many mall ninja's bought Deagle's and G20's as their first handgun! LOL grin

  6. Good for you! Supporting a good dealer...wish I could say the same for my local FFL. He's borderline foolish...the other day he told me the AR I built was illegal to manufacture and sell after he tried to sell me a lower assembly!

The local board here is all about shooting varmints and fur bearers...biggest bunch of .22-250 sugary fruit flavored drink drinkers I ever saw...

  7. Nice that he answered your email/letter personally. I bought my detachable carry handle from Midway for $40 when most other sites wanted from between 59 to 110 bucks...so I kinda like the joint but that is the beauty of the net...competition. Also there are a ton of gun forums and if a good deal pops up anywhere links are placed immediately. Tons of reloaders prolly all over that stuff you were looking for Pabs. I am in no way defending Midway as I have only ordered from them once...but I think you gotta look at the bigger picture...heckuva lot better than ordering online from Cabela's I will say that!

  8. Have you tried an EOTECH sight ? I am not sure about 200 yards but up to a 100 yards they turn me into a good shooter . Magnifaction may be better for pins though and a fair quality scope would be cheaper .

I would love love love to try an EOTECH! And I don't use the term "love" casually...but I thought I would try one of Primary Arms Red Dots first before I spent the big money on an EOTECH.

  9. Wonder why the switch? Better offer?

I used to be big into motocross. The fast guy changed brands for money. Not the bike. Any bike could be made fast. You put some competent gunsmiths on a shottie and it will shoot and perform right. This guy followed the money as we all would.

  10. Very cool.

He just emailed me and said he's getting 4 more and will give me pick of the litter before putting them in the display case. I know he's out to make a buck like the next Joe, but this gun dealer has really clicked with me. Take that Cabelas! Plus he's 20 minutes from the house, vs 1.5 or so hours to Cabelas.

That's awesome! My local dealer is ignorant of many laws and mostly sells consignment guns for higher than new prices...
