I'm pretty sure the normal fix is to change cast-off/on. The slight angle built into the wood of the but-stock where it joins the receiver.
Got an exhaust tubing bender though, bring 'er by and we'll put some bend on that sucker!!

Started yesterday. Just can't work up much enthuiasm anymore. Really like venison, and have access to 660 acres directly behind my home. Have had a corn feeder attached to a walnut tree approx 75 ft from my back deck, deer are eating almost 75 lb. of corn weekly.
Anyhow, went ahead and sat in an old tripod stand where a main feeder powerline and a small 4-5 house powerline cross this morning, saw 5-6 does and a devils horn spike. This weekend and 2 days at Christmas are doe seasons in AR this year, but if I'd wanted a doe to eat, I'd have no qualms about poping one of those eating in the back yard, so I let them all walk this morning.
The wife has hunted and killed several deer in the past, but she hasn't shown any interest in several years, But after I got back home this morning she broached checking the scope settings and setting in a stand this evening. So that's what we proceded to do. Put her in the same stand (you will not set there without seeing deer). Sure enough about 4;oo she popped a mature doe from 100 yards+. Neck shot, dropped in it's tracks! Her rifle is a Mini-30 stainless with a laminate stock, currently a BSA 3X9/40 scope. I've owned a total of 3 mini-14's over the years, and all (reason I got rid of them) were minute-of-paper-plate accurate at 100 yds. Her Mini-30, though will shoot under 2 inches with about any factory ammo. Seems odd that the notoriously inacurate 7.62X39 cartridge will outperform the normally tackdriving .223, at least in this little beauty.
Goes without saying, I bragged her up, brought it home and sikined/gutted it. Hanging in the well house chilling (at least as cool as a little A/C unit can get it). In the morning I'll quarter it and lay it in the kitchen sink,,,she'll clean up my hairy mess, cut it up, package it and stick all that excellent protein in the freezer. D-A-M-N FINE WOMAN!!
Sure wish she'd waited and slayed that one in the back yard though,,,slightly less leagal or not!

You guys have a favorite MILITARY based service rifle you'd like an opportunity to brag up? I was never in the service so mine's picked vicariously.
It's a "Tanker" modified Garand that's the sweetest shooting (and loudest, with an 18" bbl) semi auto I've ever pulled the trigger on.
This particular conversion was done by Federal Ordinance (Fed Ord), Known for building a lot of borderline junk! I later had it gone over, trigger worked, and glass bedded by Fulton Armory (probably the best). With a ammo can of filled en-bloc clips, I'd feel capable of defending the old homestead from anyting less than an organized assult squad.

Sounds like the 887 is basically an 870 with a plastic coating. What's Rem warranty on plastic peeling, cracking,discoloring, etc.? Will 870 aftermarket stuff fit it? How much more expensive? Enough to have the 870 refinished (or dipped http://www.camo-solutions.com/camo_patterns.htm) several times? Dipping dude is a neighobor and customer,,gotta plug him occasionally!

My 45 revolver's an ancient Webley MK5. Absolutely love that old boat anchor! Break top, hold the lever, trip 'er open, and it'll sling moon/fired brass completely over your shoulder! Nearly impossible to imagine a DA trigger pull can be that smooth, yet hard till you experience it. Has a firing pin built to hammer that looks like a deadly weapon in it's own right. Actually punctures a primer occasionally!
De-moon tool can be built from a piece of copper tubing with a notch cut to fit above clip, slide over case, then just give it a twist. Bill's pictured full moon clips, there are also 1/2 moons, just requires 2 (3 cartridges each) for a reload. I think they were the original version as used in WWI.
Why on earth would you ever want to not use clips?

Allways doing the "road less traveled" thing, I've only ever owned Colt's, specificaly Pythons. Have a 2 1/4, 4, 6 (two, one black one ultimate stainless), and 8 3/8, bbl lengths. The 8 3/8 is rather rare, as it's marked 38Special (for the most part Pythons are all 357). It and the 2 1/4 were both sent to a fellow in Fla. for a spring conversion. For any not familiar, Pythons use a "V" flat spring action, first used before the turn of the last century, while slick as owl $hit on glass, there's a definite "two stage feel" that makes double action predictable as to when it's actually gonna "go",, love it or hate it . Anyhow this guy (I've lost his name, been a while, think he may have retired) replaces the original spring with one that's equipped with a wheel/roller on the end of the "V" that eliminates two stage DA pull. Absolute smoothest, slickest, SAFEST, double action pull on the face of the earth!
LOVE my Pythons, PLUS their value is one of the steepest curves in the gun market. Reallly want a Diamondback 22, but unfortunately their value is gonna be hard to swallow!

AKA "alreadygone" on BITOG, seldom ever post there, as every doctor, lawyer, and indian chief there knows more about autos than I do, even though I've earned a living as the owner/operator of a reasonably succesful auto repair business for over 30 years.
Don't worry, even though I've shot since I was too little to hold the rifle up without a rest, and reloaded for 18-20 years, there's no doubt many here will have a lot I can learn! As a hobbiest many things can be learned from others, in my professional field, I doubt that many hobiests can teach me much! On that note it'd sure be great to have pro shooters, firearm and ammo reps, etc., join here to give tutorials occasionally!
