I was the guy wearing the black Burberry jacket that you demanded that I hand over, shortly after you pulled the knife on me and my girlfriend, threatening our lives. You also asked for my girlfriend's purse and earrings. I can only hope that you somehow come across this rather important message.
First, I'd like to apologize for your embarrassment; I didn't expect you to actually [censored] in your pants when I drew my pistol after you took my jacket. The evening was not that cold, and I was wearing the jacket for a reason. My girlfriend had just bought me that Kimber Model 1911 .45 ACP pistol for my birthday, and we had picked up a shoulder holster for it that very evening. Obviously you agree that it is a very intimidating weapon when pointed at your head ... Isn't it?!
I know it probably wasn't fun walking back to wherever you'd come from with that brown sludge in your pants. I'm sure it was even worse walking bare-footed since I made you leave your shoes, cell phone, and wallet with me. [That prevented you from calling or running to your buddies to come help mug us again].
After I called your mother or "Momma" as you had her listed in your cell, I explained the entire episode of what you'd done. Then I went and filled up my gas tank as well as those of four other people in the gas station, -- on your credit card. The guy with the big motor home took 150 gallons and was extremely grateful!
I gave your shoes to a homeless guy outside Vinnie Van Go Go's, along with all the cash in your wallet. [That made his day!]
I then threw your wallet into the big pink "pimp mobile" that was parked at the curb ... After I broke the windshield and side window and keyed the entire driver's side of the car.
Later, I called a bunch of phone sex numbers from your cell phone. Ma Bell just now shut down the line, although I only used the phone for a little over a day now, so what 's going on with that? Earlier, I managed to get in two threatening phone calls to the DA's office and one to the FBI, while mentioning President Obama as my possible target.
The FBI guy seemed really intense and we had a nice long chat (I guess while he traced your number etc.).
In a way, perhaps I should apologize for not killing you ... But I feel this type of retribution is a far more appropriate punishment for your threatened crime. I wish you well as you try to sort through some of these rather immediate pressing issues, and can only hope that you have the opportunity to reflect upon, and perhaps reconsider, the career path you've chosen to pursue in life. Remember, next time you might not be so lucky.Have a good day!

Not my first AR. I've got a Colt SP-1 and a competition HBAR also Colt. It's my first 16" collapsible stock model.

Colt started selling the AR-15 in the early 60's as a complete rifle only.

I've got one of the older short Chinese SKS's that were made for the conical bayonet. I got it about 15 years ago mostly just to have one. I really haven't shot it that much.
The chamber in that gun is as sloppy as anything I've ever seen. The headspace is fine but the chamber diameter is *far* larger than a resized round.
It's no wonder they work when filled with mud and grit.

Bought one of these last week -
I'm planning on taking an urban rifle course next summer and "needed" a short AR for the course. I've seen the Rock River rifles at the local gun shows and was impressed with how they look. I was planning on ordering one locally and waiting but I saw one on Gunbroker and decided to pick it up. I should have in in my hands next week.
I'll probably put an Aimpoint on the gun since I think it will be ideal for that type of shooting.

I have a heavy barrel short action Sako I bought in the late 70's that I'm very fond of. My only regret is that I didn't buy a few of them in assorted calibers.

I agree. Those guns are super durable. I had a Glock armorer tell me they have more problems with too much lubrication than too little. So I don't think you have a worry.
I had shot 500-600 rounds through my 23 before I cleaned it the first time. The paste was almost all gone at that point, just some left in areas that don't really contact.
I left that small amount, then cleaned everything up and used oil as instructed in the manual. I expect I'll wear out before that gun.

My 23 had a note somewhere that said to leave the copper lube for "break in." Apparently it's some type of anti-seize paste.
I did the same as you by the way. I cleaned things up as best I could but didn't try to get all the paste off. Then I used Rem oil to lube everything.

Did you leave the copper lube on the gun when you cleaned it? They claim it's for break in and should left on until it disappears.

I think grease has very limited use on weapons. Great on things like bolt action locking lugs, wrong on something like a slide. Just my opinion though...

I was instructed by the gunsmith that built my Commander to use BreakFree and that's what I've been using with no problems.
I use Rem oil on a number of other guns though.

The Federals are soft IMO compared to CCI's or the old plated Winchesters. The Federal Magnums might be a bit thicker. But looking at your photos I don't think you have a problem.
My old Model 19 is a little loose on headspace and it flattens primers a lot more than what your seeing.
Pressure problems will typically show up not just as primer flattening, but also as primer extrusion into the clearance area around the firing pin and excessive case expansion.
If you want to get a better idea of what kind of pressures you're running, shoot some factory ammo in the gun and mic the cases right below the head. Then reload those cases and make the same measurements after shooting.
Similar case expansion = similar pressures.

I would like your feedback on the trigger. My next pistol will either be a XDm or a M&P in 9mm. I'm in one of those, "just can't make up my mind" situations.

The M&P I handled at a gun show recently had a much better trigger than my Glock.

I'd avoid buying .22 ammo right now unless you really need it.
I don't think the Remington .22's are the only bad .22 ammo available right now. Production is so high thanks to current demand that the quality is down on almost all of it.
I was at a local gun club meeting in November and a guy had a formerly very nice Winchester Model 63 that had a case head separation with Federal ammo. The case head was gone, the case was still stuck in the chamber, the extractor was blown completely off, the stock had a crack, and he had a cut on his face. He was waiting a day or so more before calling Federal.
One of the local gun shops has been sort of a clearing house for this info and has spoken to a number of manufacturers about the recent problems. Of course no one seems to want to take any blame, but one did offer a "theory" on what might might be happening -
A partially plugged nozzle on the priming machinery that ultimately clears itself. This reduces the priming compound in a number of cases followed by a huge overcharge in one case when the clog finally clears.
What you end up with after they're loaded is a few dud or under pressure rounds followed by one that gives massive overpressure thanks to excessive priming compound.
As far as all brands being a problem, the only brand the local shop hadn't seen any problems with was CCI. In his experience, everything else has issues right now.

Same here. I have some .45 ACP cases that have been reloaded at least 20 times. I used to keep track but quit bothering with it when I saw how long they lasted.

I'm still using an ancient Competition Electronics Pro TNT. It's a handy unit since the control electronics can be used as a shot timer. It's a little picky about ambient light and the shooting area is small but overall it works OK. One thing I really like about it is that the lightscreen assy. is separate from the electronics. I've had to repair the lightsceen setup a couple of times do to bullet damage but the electronics have been trouble free.
Some of the newer chronos look nice with a lot more features and a much larger shooting area. But I don't like the idea of the electronics sitting out in the potential path of the bullet.

My s/n is in the 5000 range. Fit and finish on this gun is superb, and the bluing is some of the best I've ever seen on any gun at any price. It looks like a deep pool of blue-black ink that you could just dive into.
My replacement pistol had a 48XX or 49XX S/N.
I do agree on the fit and finish. Both of mine were superlative, as good as the German made guns at the time. I just didn't find the gun all that comfortable to shoot and accuracy was so-so.
A lot of people have these guns and like them. They just don't do it for me...

I'd take the Ruger.
I had a PPK, like yours one of the first to be made in the US. Under 1000 S/N in fact. I had it for a few months but never shot it.
Good thing I never needed it since when I finally got around to shooting it the gun wouldn't fire.
The dealer sent it back to Walther/Interarms. After an almost 6 month wait they sent me a new gun.
I shot all of 2 boxes of ammo through that gun and sold it. It was a hand biter as you remember and other than being small had no redeeming qualities that I can think of.
Something like a Smith 3913 isn't that much larger but it's superior in every way.

I may try the Dremel at some point. I've been shooting my reloads in that gun almost exclusively. A 165g Rainier bullet at 1050fps. Not hot loads but not bunny farts either. They recoil less than the White Box Winchester ammo.
I have some lighter bullets to load. I just haven't tried them yet.

As can be seen from the photo I posted, the finger grooves are what caused me problems. They push my middle finger hard up into the trigger guard. Not good...

Ha! I hadn't noticed that.
The gun shoots well and functions perfectly. But the grip leaves something to be desired.

WSF and Power Pistol might be other choices. I don't know how Power Pistol measures through the Lee measure, but WSF works great.
