and I never really noticed before just how much smaller the 22-250 is than the 300 Remington Ultra Mag. After I finished reloading I had both batches out for a final once over, never really looked at them side by side.

I have worked up two loads that shoot very well.

180gr Nosler Partition over 82gr of IMR 4350 and a Federal 215 primer at 3130fps

AND

200gr Nosler AccuBond over 94gr of Retumbo with a Federal 215 primer at 3180fps

I assume by what you are loading in the 300 Ultra Mag...this is your big game load? Have you shot anything with the Accubond bullet yet...if so how does it compare to the Partition?

I have taken elk with both loads and the partition provides much greater penetration and the accubond leaves a larger wound channel, both have good weight retention. Just out of curiosity I have used the 180gr load on groundhogs and coyote also.

Yeah, the 22-250 is what I generally use for varmints, but it was very windy a couple times out so I got the idea that the 300 load would buck the wind a little better, and it did, besides dead is dead and I'll bet you that they couldn't tell the difference anyway. smirk
