wwillson
I pick up brass every time I go to the range. I've accumulated quite a bit of many many different calibers over time. I couple years ago I noticed I couldn't get a primer in a 45ACP case. When I looked more carefully at the case I noticed the primer pocket looked too small for a large pistol primer. It sure was - a small pistol primer pocket in a 45ACP, made by Winchester with a headstamp "Winchester NT". Fast forward to today I sorted a bunch of brass and much to my chagrin I saw many CCI Blazer brass cases with small pistol primer pockets! What a nightmare for the reloader..... Tom
Apparently the Winchester "NT" is "non-toxic" and their special powder didn't need a large primer. CCI probably figured out a way to make blazer ammo cheaper by using smaller primers.
steves
the primers are the non-toxic part.
