Tom Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 I've got the itch for a nice .22 target pistol. Ruger's offerings have always caught my eye. I'm thinking 6" bull barrel, slab sides or fluted.any opinions on the Mk. III or 22-45. a used Mk.II would be fine also if I could find one locally. Quote
Arkie_Lefty Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 LOVE the Marks! Just a personal thing, but I've always thought the 22-45's just about the ugliest things I've ever seen made in the US!Bob Quote
wwillson Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 Tom,I know it's not a Mark III, but I have a Mark II with the 5.5" bull barrel. I bought it in new 1992 and have probably shot it 100,000 times. It's just shoots flawlessly and is really accurate with the longer bull barrel.Wayne Quote
Tom Posted April 9, 2010 Author Report Posted April 9, 2010 I got a chance to fondle the Mk. III and 22/45 today. I don't care for the 22/45 grip/frame. My favorite shop had a Mk. III in SS with the extra long slab side barrel. I think that's the one I neeeed! Quote

The cocobolo gripped 22/45 bull barrel Ruger MkIII is near drop dead gorgeous, IMHO. There are some EXTREMELY ugly (plastic black) garish guns out there and putting ANY of the Mks in with them just seems a bit odd. Quote
