Tom
I went to the range and tried out a couple pistols today including the Springfield XD. I was leaning toward the XD or M&P. Couldn't really find fault with any of them but the M&P felt better in my hand and seemed to point and reset on target faster for the way I hold a pistol.I have some practice to do! Although I've shot semi-auto pistols a bit in the past I've never owned one. This is the first "new" gun I've bought in 15 years!
G-MAN
Congrats. Is this what you got? It's a good looking gun. I looked at the S&W Sigma when I got my Ruger P95 and I wasn't impressed. Didn't like the way it felt in my hand.

Tom
Full size just like that but without thumb safety.I never cared for the Sigma because it always seemed like a reaction to the Glock just to get something on the market (I may be wrong). wwillson
Tom,I would like your feedback on the trigger. My next pistol will either be a XDm or a M&P in 9mm. I'm in one of those, "just can't make up my mind" situations.Wayne
Scotty
Nice gun Tom. If I ever get a .40, that is what I'll get. The XD is nice but the M&P seems better executed overall.
Tom
The small amount I've shot it so far I didn't notice the "hinged" part of the trigger which was a major concern of mine. Poor triggers bug me a lot. I'll give it a trigger job, there are some very detailed instructions from a M&P specialist floating around on the internet.Being made in-house by Smith & Wesson (American company) in the US (American workers) is something I like about the M&P. Neither of those is true about the XD. I don't have an issue with imported products when they are good performers but it's a bonus when I can get something all American.
