wwillson
I've never had this happen before, but have seen it a couple times. Yesterday I pulled the hull out and noticed that it felt different. When I looked at it I was surprised to see half of the hull was missing. I found the rest of the hull about 20' in front of my position. Do hulls tear like this simply by chance, or did I do something to damage the hull while it was being loaded?Wayne
Moe
Usually it's caused by reloading the case too many times. I have had a couple of .410 shells do the same thing. Usually, you can tell by the sound that this has happened. The seperated case being ejected actually whistles after leaving the barrel. This is the reason most skeet shooters use factory ammo in competition. If a case does that while shooting doubles it can cause some serious problems if using an autoloader or pump.
