I would like to mount a red dot on my Ruger MKII, but never have because I don't want to drill any holes. I bought the pistol new when I was in college and want to maintain that brand new look, it's a sentimental thing.

Is there any way to mount a scope solidly without drilling and tapping?

Thanks,

Mostly have little appreciation of sentimental b. s. , as long as modification is done well enough that value stays the same, or increases. As long as mod improves looks, reliability, or accuracy. With about two trillion of 'em floating around, your MKII won't ever be any sort of "collectors item". Use it!

Or, that could be a good reason to buy an additional MKII, or even try on one of them new MKIII's for size.

Somebody makes a replacement grip panel with scope mount attached. Looks kinda Goldbergish.

Bob,

I appreciate your candor and you're right, the my MKII is just like the other trillion out there... I think I will find a competent gunsmith in the area and mount a rail for a scope.
