  1. Well I didn't want to make this thread about Kel-Tec and all...there is a .32 for sale at the local shop. Maybe I should buy it but I need bowling pin killers and I don't think the Kel-Tec will do it well! LOL The reason I posted the Kel-Tec links is so one could compare the size of the Kel-Tec with the Ruger as most of us have prolly seen a Kel-Tec at the gun shop... Happy Booming!
  2. Yah Nutn is better than cable tv. I even admire the fact that he goes on and on... To me it allows one to feel like they are having a discussion with the guy as he discusses both the pros and cons of whatever product he is reviewing. Nutnfancy is good for America and America's youth as he advocates safety and responsible gun ownership. If only they would listen.. Youtube always has so many immature bafoons that laud the good guys...
  3. I wish he would have spent less time talking about the target and shot it more... I find his articles better reading on Gunblast.com than watching his videos. But alas you did get to see the recoil of the gun.
  4. http://ruger.com/products/sr9/models.html I see them for $400 NIB all day long on gunbroker. My local shop has them after tax for $429. Important that the grip fits you. Go feel them all up! Go to Cabela's and hold them and dry fire if they will let you. They let me experience the trigger on every gun I was considering. I really should have bought the S&W M&P9 or 40 but I really wanted a Glock. Prolly from watching too many Hickok45 videos...LOL The Glock does fit me well and I think you should get a gun that feels comfortable in your hand. And then imagine it going backwards and up at about 50 mph for like an inch and a half for .75 seconds. The ergos need to say "Go!" to your hands. Nah mean? Happy Hunting For The Right Pistola!
  5. Yah I get what your saying bro...Don't worry it sank in this time! I think I would feel naked without the Glock.
  6. I think I'll just keep the thing in the range bag... I've got a nice Otis Kit for the AR and I'll keep using that. I'll keep the snake in the sack as a back up...
  7. I seriously doubt they are all that bad...to each his own I say. I never base a firearm opinion on one guy who bought a gun and had a bad experience. You can search the internets and find a post just like the one above about any gun. Any gun.
  8. I just bought one for my AR. How do you guys use them? Solvent on the snake? Dry snake through the bore? My buddy sprays RemOil on his... I haven't read the instructions or even opened the package. I just couldn't walk away from the thing at the gun shop this morning. Paid $18.99 for the snake.

    Ruger LC9

http://ruger.com/products/lc9/index.html Blah! It's ugly and Kel-Tec already makes some great lil guns but alas...YMMV...You might like it... Ruger had everybody going about some awesome new gun that was to be unveiled todady at 3pm on their website. I was expecting a Ruger 1911 for the 100th anniversary...that or a SR40c...
  11. What!? The guy at the gun shop told me this $495 Glock would make me shoot like Hickok45! I just knew it! I got shammed again!
  12. SteveS I Prolly won't sell the Glock but there are other guns that I want... Yah you are right I won't get much for it if I do sell it. The most value I can get out of the Glock is in a lock box by the nightstand! It's just not the best range/plinking gun... I have a gun in mind for that purpose...working overtime to get it!
  13. It's not that the Glock doesn't do what it's supposed to do. It's just that I want the M&P. Even if I do end up keeping the Glock I will be getting a brand new M&P. The Glock is the first gun I have ever bought brand new. It's a great gun and I've learned a whole lot shooting it. I've hit a bowling pin at 100 yards with it. That was very satisfying. I just wanted to toss around the idea in my head a bit because from day one that I bought the Glock I've told myself and maybe I have said it here that I would never sell it. I wanted to question why I felt this way about an inanimate object as I see and read about so many others trading or selling off guns to get another gun. The way things are looking I would prolly not be able to get what I wanted out of it so seriously doubt the Glock goes anywhere. I'm sure I would miss if I sold it but the plan was to replace it with an M&P 9mm. I think the M&P in that caliber would be a much better range gun. Most of my shooting is bowling pin bustin' and the .40 costs a bit more to feed and sometimes the recoil hurts a bit in a gun this light. I've gotten used to it but I want a bit heavier gun of the easier shooting 9mm variety. The M&P only weighs 4 more ounces but with the less recoil of the Parabellum I think it would amount to a great range shooter and that is primarily what I want it for... Ah well...if I end up with both guns than I'll have two very nice handguns. If that happens the G23 will become the "Castle Defense Gun" and the M&P will be my "Bowling Pin Buster".
  14. Hmmm...wonder which "mod" changed the titles of my posts in this thread? Explain yourself please. I did say please... Ahem...now back to more important matters! Fired 29 rounds of the Fiocchi 170gr FMJ yesterday and my previous opinion of this ammo is the same. Very accurate and loaded hot! I like the way it shoots but I cain't stand the way it smells! Almost like rotten eggs or something. 50 rounds of WWB 180gr FMJ down the pipe like clockwork. Winchester White Box is always a good buy in my book. 871+79=950 rounds through the Glock with no trouble except for the UMC causing about 7 FTE's outta 200 rounds. And I do not limp wrist. Anyways didn't realize I was exactly at 950! We stopped shooting because it got too cold. I wonder if the fact that the Glock now has 950 rounds through it will hurt the selling price. Of course I'll be honest and even give the next owner a link to this if I do sell it. I might be stuck with it if I cain't get what I want outta this gun. Which ain't really a bad thing in my book. Nice gun!
  15. Does Cabela's take trade-ins? I'll have to find out...
  16. LMAO! Yah but guys in all fairness you can get off the mailing list if you tell them you don't want all that junk. I don't know how as I like getting all the junk! Anyway, anyone who will send me stuff in the mail!......
  17. Yah the NRA does a bunch of good. Very active organization. As Americans we are lucky to have them. Which magazine did you pick? I get American Rifleman.
  18. Guys I was at the range today talking to an ol'timer who had 12 Charles Daly bolt-action .22's! He said he bought them a long time ago when they were 160 bucks. Not sure if that was the seventies or eighties. They were made by CZ. Very beautiful gun. I was gonna ask if he wanted to sell one but instead I kept my mouth shut for once and just listened to his words of wisdom. He said he bought so many cause his grandchildren were being born and he had nieces and nephews and he wanted to start them all out with one. I was standing there thinking to myself, hey this man is smart and wise! I'm gonna keep listening... Subject got around to 9mm vs .45 and I went to the car and showed him my Glock. We got to talking about the .40 and I told him I really liked the gun but kinda wished I had bought the Smith&Wesson. By this time another ol'timer had joined the conversation and he told me I didn't need to get attached to any gun and I had some trading material right there in my hand. The other wise man chimes in that in his years he has found that if you want a gun real bad you will find a way to pay for it. So I'm sitting there thinking maybe I should trade this Glock or sell it and use the money to get that M&P. This Glock is the first gun I have ever bought brand new so I thought I should keep it but I'm not really that attached to it when I think about it... We did have fun bantering in an impromptu caliber debate(s)! Both of these dudes were Army vets and both had been issued the M14 in boot camp to be later replaced by the M-16. So we started with a 9mm vs .45 debate and then a .223 vs .308 debate followed. I mostly kept my mouth shut and listened. I thought I had them on the 1911 vs Polymer when I field stripped the Glock right before their eyes in seconds! "Son that ain't no big deal! You get used to the 1911 you can do it just as fast!" I was gonna start in about magazine capacity but decided to excuse myself and go back to trying to get my Mauser on the target at 200 yards. Something I ain't been able to do on a regular basis. So now I'm thinking of getting an adjustable rear sight ghost ring set-up for the beast. As it is the thing is just a "kickin' noise maker"! That's what my lil brother calls it... Anyways I know this is the Pistol Forum so I think I'll be putting that Glock on the block soon. The local FFL will sell it on commission and then I would use whatever I made to buy the M&P. I will stop in there tomorrow and see what kinda deal I can work up... And I think this time I will go 9mm because I cain't reload just yet... I think if I can get $450 for the Glock I'll be alright. Of course I don't know what percentage the dealer will take but I don't wanna sell the gun person to person I would rather have the transfer on paper so it ain't registered to me anymore. Gotta get that M&P!
  19. It was good day at the range today! After about 8 clicks to the right on the rear sights...BOOM! Little teeny tiny groups! Hoorah! This baby is on! I can it the bullseye all day long at 50 yards. Finally! Only took me almost 200 rounds to get it figured out. Can nail the 200 yard target too...groups get bigger though. Maybe eight inches...I wasn't measuring just was happy to be hitting the target! LOL! We were shooting the man sized torso targets...not sure if they were designed for shooting at 200 yards. I think they are made for indoor handgun ranges. Ah well somebody left a stack of like a hundred at the range. Interesting guns you see at the range...one guy had an AR with a scope on it. Got to talking to him and discover it's a .25 WSSM. Had no idea such a cartridge existed. It was a huge fat bottomed case. In fact it looked like a pregnant cow! I kept looking for the udders. Didn't look fun to shoot either. Loud and it was actually rocking the gun backwards on the bipod the guy had set-up. Another guy had a really nice .22 by Charles Daly. Bolt-action with a scope. Of course it was made by CZ in the seventies. Wow! CZ makes a sexy rifle. Just something about those CZ's!
  20. Awesome...now I have a question! None of my business in your personal deal but can an individual ship a firearm to another individual's dealer in another state? I say this because my bud's dad in Florida shipped him a gun and he had to ship through his dealer in FL to a dealer in Nebraska. So can an individual ship directly to another state to an FFL? USPS or UPS? Nice gun BTW!
  21. Just got done cleaning the gun for the first time by myself. Watched youtube videos and read a few websites. Ain't much to it but a bit overwhelming if you don't know what you are doing. The Otis cleaning kit I got for 30 bucks is real nice as it has everything you need except for lube and maybe some cotton swabs. I didn't take the bolt apart though as I had only put about 50 rounds downrange last time out. I cleaned the barrel and chamber and took the bolt out and rubbed it down with ballistol and let it soak in. Then I took a clean patch and rubbed it down. Tomorrow I'm gonna shoot some Black Hills 55gr FMJ and some Hornady 55gr VMAX Varmint rounds. Got to get this thing zeroed in at 200. Christmas Eve it was shooting about 2 foot to the left at 200 yards...
  22. First time ever shooting that round in any gun! Wow! And I thought my Glock was snappy! I had the AR and the G23 in the front seat of my Focus and I thought I was well armed until my buddy walks outta his house with his .357 Blackhawk on one hip and his Super Redhawk on the other hip. He gets in the car and says, "Are those your little toys?" The Redhawk was stainless with a 7.5" barrel. Beautiful gun! Recoil for days though with full power loads. Awesome experience I will say...
  23. Went out again this morning for some more Glock work. Fired the remaining 21 rounds of the UMC and it stovepiped again! Ah well, it doesn't really bother me as it's just target ammo. Yup same thing that happened to Hickok and the same ammo albeit in .40 S&W. It's just cheap stuff and maybe my spring is still really tight I dunno... Fired 50 of the Federal Champion 180gr FMJ and 60 rounds of WWB 165 gr with no problems. I made sure and lubed the gun a bit with Ballistol before I went out as I hadn't cleaned it since the last range trip. And it is 22 degrees out so don't know if that had anything to do with it. 740+60+50+21=871 rounds through the Glock. Would have been 871 flawless rounds had I not bought the UMC! Remember how I was complaining about the recoil of the .40 when I first got the Glock? It doesn't even bother me anymore and I shot a bowling pin from 100 yards today. The bowling pin shattered into little tiny white pieces and wood. Musta been on it's last leg. Confirmed kill though and was really satisfying to hit something like that from 100 yards. I have to say my skills with the G23 have improved to the point that I feel like joining the GSSF and going to the Grand Island match next year. That should qualify me for the Civilian Marksmanship Program and then I can bid on an M1 Garand or .30 carbine. Not that I need one but the Garand is gorgeous in my book! The G23 is a very satisfying handgun to own especially for a first time semi-auto owner. I still wish I had bought the G19 sometimes and yah I prolly shoulda bought that M&P40 as it's American made, but this Glock sure ain't the worst purchase I've ever made. Fun little gun and it shoots too! This gun is way more accurate than I am. Hope y'all don't mind me keeping this thread going with a running tally of rounds fired through the Glock with my opinions on different ammo and my reflections on the gun.
  24. 521 50 rounds of Federal Champion 180gr FMJ 40 rounds of Winchester WB 165gr FMJ 50 rounds of Independence 165gr FMJ 79 rounds of Remington UMC 180gr HP 219+521=740 rounds through the Glock. Really like the Independence. Proved very accurate. The brass was headstamped Blazer. Maybe I'll have to give the Blazer Brass a go next. Remington UMC HP's not so good. I don't know why but the stuff made the Glock FTE 5 times out of 79 rounds. The empty case would get caught by the slide during the return stroke or whatever it is called with another round going into battery at the same time. I guess some would call it a "stovepipe" when this occurs. The Glock just doesn't like it. It was kinda a letdown too because my Army Ranger buddy was out shooting with me and he is not a fan of Glocks. He is a 1911 aficionado and doesn't understand why I chose the G23 over a 1911. I thought I would let the gun speak for itself and handed him the gun and a magazine with 12 rounds of Remington UMC 180gr HP's... You know I could go on all day about Glock reliability and design but when the gun "stovepipes" twice out of 12 rounds and the shooter is already biased against the Glock it just makes my points seem pointless. And then it happened three times when I was shooting the stuff. I was worried something was wrong with my extractor or magazine until I brought out the Winchester and the Federal and the gun shot like a Glock again. Maybe a bad box with a few weak rounds. I know it is Remington's cheap stuff but it wasn't a good showing for the Glock. To be fair I'm gonna buy another box of the stuff and see what happens. Maybe two or three boxes next time I buy ammo. I dislike trouncing any product until it fails so much that it is obvious. And for the record I wasn't trying to bring my buddy to the Glockside nor did I have any pitchers of Kool-Aid on the table. It's just that the guy trash talks Glock or most any other pistol that ain't a 1911 and I thought I'd open up his eyes a bit. I'm not biased against the 1911 one bit, in fact my "dream pistol" would be an Ed Brown all day long, all year long! Simply wanted my bud to see there are other options out there. He's not dumb and after shooting the WWB I think he agreed with me that it was prolly weak ammo but I really dislike making excuses... Now if only I could find that Independence stuff at the Federal Champion price...
  25. Read somewhere that nickel plated brass cannot be reloaded as many times as brass. How many loads do you get out of the plated brass?
