  1. And yes I know this has been done to death on other forums but I know yall from Bitog and here and I rather value yalls opinion over other places. But if you must link to me another forum that you trust and didn't just google up. I can and have done that. Hickock doesn't like the safety but he actually likes the grip of the XD better than the Glock. He admits so... Thanks again yall...
  2. Handling a bud's XDM 45. I noticed the grip safety. I'm in the market for a semi-auto and I don't wanna leave the XD's outta my considerations as they can be had in the service models for a very reasonable price. I've also seen the grip safety on some 1911's recently something that I have never before noticed. I prolly didn't notice because I'm not at all interested in 1911's for my own reasons but I am interested in yalls opinions on grip safeties. If they are not noticeable then I will put the XD in the running again. So what do yall think of them? If there was an option or a model without them would you buy that model instead? There isn't on the XD. I'm just saying...Can you live with it and shoot or do you actually like the grip safeties? thanks Camu
  3. Looks like I'm left eye dominate. Does this mean I should be shooting rifles left-handed? Wow I cain't wait to get a pistol so I can try aiming with both eyes respectively to see if there is a difference. Watching Hickock45's FAQ on Eye Dominance got me thinking so I tested myself and I'm left eye dominant like Hickock. If you watch Hickock he shoots right-handed but uses his left eye to aim with. He says in the video that he still uses his right eye when shooting rifles. I know Hickock is not the ultimate expert on everything but he's right up there! My lil brother wants to shoot left-handed but when we go to the range he shoots right-handed because the mauser is of course right-side bolt. Imma try left-handed next time I go and see how it feels. I've been shooting right-handed all my life. Granted I've only shot shotguns and .22's until I got my 8mm. Hmmmm.....this is interesting. Good thing 8mm is 6 bucks for a box of 15 in my town.
  4. How to you test yourself? I made a little circle with my hands and looked at the door knob about 8 feet away. When I close my left eye it disappears. When I close my right eye I can still see it. Left eye dominant right? haha no pun intended...
  5. Sure wish I could find Glocks around here for that price. There are used Glocks around not factory refurbished but the sellers are so proud of them I kinda discouraged when I could throw in a hundred bucks more and get a brand new one.
  6. Looking up Rugers I just stumbled across the P95. Wow! I think that is just the gun for the job I have to do! You see there's talk of bowling pins hanging out at the bottom of a big berm that I know of about 9 miles outta town... Yah I'm needing an economical "wondernine" and if my dealer can get me a brand new one for $300 bucks or so that will prolly be the ticket...
  7. Oh really awesome! That's sweet! I've been watching Hickok's videos almost non-stop the last couple months. I stumbled on to them when I was watching 8mm Mauser videos and I have been hooked since! Welcome Hickock45! You're videos are better than cable tv!
  8. I don't like the grip safety on the XD or would be looking at one of those. XD or XDM was my first choice but after shooting my buddies XDM .45 I decided I didn't like that grip safety at all. Do the regular XD's have the grip safety? I would like an M&P but I don't even see them new around here. I'm looking at spending about $450. Don't worry I'm gonna seriously take a look for an M&P used unless you guys think that the trigger might be discouraging for someone new to autoloaders. I want all the opinions I can get. This will be a thoroughly researched decision before I buy. If I handle the M&P and just have to have it then I will wait and buy new. If I buy new it will be American Made and that's that. How much would you guys expect to pay for a Smith & Wesson 9mm? I see Sigmas advertised for $329 and that is my price range but I just don't know much about them.
  9. Primary Use= The Firing Range Not Self Defense. I want a semi-auto that's reliable, durable, and fun to shoot. I want a Glock because they are known for reliability. I want a pistol I can shoot 500rds of in one session. I prolly never shoot more than a box of 50 but want that capability. In short I want a Glock or if I buy new I want American made as in M&P or Ruger. I cain't afford new so I'm getting a Glock. The 19 fits my hand best.
  10. So are these Rock Island just like the guns made by Kimber, Les Baer, etc. What I mean is will parts interchange? I want one cause the price is right but I want a "real" 1911. Are these the same as the other clones or do I need more 1911 education?
  11. Can you guys tell me some other models you would consider that are comparable to the Glock 19 so I can price them on Gunbroker. Is the S&W Sigma a viable alternative?
  12. Plastic 9mm? Leaning towards a Glock 23 Gen 3 for $475. Would rather pay $425 and prefer the model 19 size. It doesn't have to be a Glock. Should I keep looking and waiting or buy the 23? I would prefer 9mm and yes I know the 23 is a .40. It's just available in my town. How much are used poly 9mm's going for in your area?
