  1. Just recently we started to get pistol/shotgun powders here in Northern Ohio. I don't know how there could be none and then the one pound containers started showing up and then a couple of weeks later the 4 and 8 pound containers started showing up. Vihtavorie is non existent, IRM only in rifle powder, small selection of Accurate powder, full line of Alliant and most Hodgdon / Winchester powders. Lots of primers available. I drive to Pennsylvania (1-1/2 hours)to Master Cast Bullet Company and get my hard cast and Montana Gold /Berrys bullets in bulk.
  2. Pablo, Have you ever tried WST powder? I used a lot of WST in 45ACP but have been unable to find any for a while. Now I'm using Win 231 or Bullseye.
  3. That is a sharp looking pistol! How is the recoil since the frame is so light weight?
  4. Wayne, Here in Northern Ohio the Powder selection has gotten a lot better the last few weeks with the pistol powders becoming available. The only powder that is hit or miss is the IMR pistol / shotgun line. One, four and eight pound containers of Hodgdon powder are available. I picked up some Win WSF and Win 231 which I had not seen in a real long time. The full line of Alliant powders are in stock. Lots of primers on the shelves. The Federal SP primers were on sale recently for $23.99 x 1,000. Now if I could only find some 22 long rifle Rimfire ammo(CCI Standard Velocity)!!!
  5. Update 1-29-2015. The Clearidge scope on my rimfire rifle maintains its point of aim even in very cold temperatures. I have no complaints about this scope. Precise adjustments, very clear sight picture and reasonably priced.
  6. dnewton3 Thank you for your reply. I will check for a local authorized Glock aromorer and see what he / she suggests. As a side note, I can load bullets way past 1.20 in the Glock without hitting the start of the lands and groves. This applies to round nose and hollow point bullet profiles. I have read that Glock Barrels have long throats, but does this (1.20+ OAL length without hitting the rifling) sound excessive to you? Would excessive free bore be causing my accuracy issues?
  7. Frome the 45 ACP brass I have, which is mainly range pick ups, Winchester cases take large or small pistol primers, Federal is the same. Speer and CCI only use small pistol primers. Remington large pistol primers.
  8. Update, I was able to borrow a KKM barrel from another guys Glock (G-17)on the range yesterday and use it in my G-17. I was able to get 2 to 2-1/2 groups, at 25 yards with several handloads that work well in my CZ pistol. After all these years it was a garbage stock barrel causing the problem. To really confirm poor barrel quality - I switched back and forth between the stock Glock and KKM barrels and with the stock Glock barrel - poor groups, KKM barrel - good groups. Now I have to order a KKM barrel. Anybody have any experience with Glock's factory repair department replacing barrels if accuracy is a problem or would Glock say inside 10 inch groups at 25 yards is still within Glock spec. dnewton3 - I see you are a certified to work on Glock's. Have you any experience with Factory barrel replacement for Glock's? xtell
  9. Glock shooters, I have a stock - Glock 17 - third series that I'm having accuracy issues with. I have tried: Titegroup, 231, WSF, Power Pistol and Bullseye powders. Win and Federal small pistol primers and assorted range brass from Win, Remington, Speer and Federal and S & B. Bullets I tried range from plated to FMJ 115, 124 and 147 grain from various manufacturers. I have loaded the 9mm rounds OAL from 1.10 to 1.15 inches and adjusted crimp tension. At 15 yards, benched, I can get get around 1-1/2 inch groups with only a few loads (124 grain FMJ with 4.1 Titegroup, 6.0 Power Pistol and 5.0 WSF,Federal primers, Winchester brass and an OAL of 1.13. However, out at 25 yards my groups open up to 7 to 10 inches. At 35 + yards I'm lucky to even hit the target. I have had several other shooters shoot my Glock and they all get the same results. Any ideas what could be the cause of this? I have been working with this pistol off and on for over 3 years with no improvement in accuracy. As a side note, I also shoot a CZ Shadow Target (9mm), Colt 1911 Government Series 70 (45ACP) and a recently purchased S & W 586 revolver (38 special / .357 mag) and have no problems with accuracy. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you, xtell
  10. I've always had good luck with Savage rifles, 110 series and the old 99 lever actions. She should get a lot of good use out of her new rifle.

dnewton3, What is your opinion on the trigger pull (creep-weight-length of pull)? How would you rate the fit and finish? Nuff said, xtell
  12. Barry and Bill, Thanks you for the replys. I'll just have to make sure to keep up with the cleaning to avoid any lead build up. I can live with the soot as long as the guns shoots as well as it does. I'll give Clay's a shot as a powder choice if I can ever find any for sale in the local area. There are a lot of choices for rifle powder available locally but handgun powder is very scarce (along with 22 ammo). xtell
  13. BarryinIN Thank you for your reply. I loaded up 148 DEWC's with 2.7-3.0 of Bullseye and 2.9-3.1 of 231. My gun seems to prefer the 2.7 Bullseye load (very acurate) with the 231-3.1 load a close second. For 158 SWC I was able to get good results with 3.3 of Titegroup and 3.3 of Bullseye. I shot both weights of bullets at 15 yard and 25 yard targets. I never shot a revolver before and sure was suprised at the soot left on the gun and my hands!!! By chance, would you know of any powders, suitable for use with lead bullets, that would work as well as the powders I listed but be cleaner burning? Or is the soot a result of bullet lube burning after powder ignition and just something revolver shooters live with.
  14. Fellow shooters: I recently got a S&W 586 357 magnum with a 6 inch barrel. I'm looking to reload some mild / accurate target loads using 38 special cases. I have Bullseye, 231, Power Pistol and Titegroup and for bullets I'll be using 148 grain dewc and 158 grain swc cast bullets. I've always reloaded for 9mm and various rifle calibers but never for 38 special. I do have several reloading manuals and info from powder companies but still would like input from revolver shooters. Any help would be appreciated. xtell
  15. Generally assembled from German Mauser 98 parts prior to the late 1930's. Most of the models I've seen were from the late 1930's into the 1950's. Some gun's marked with a "K" by the numbers had their parts made in Turkey at a Turkey arsenal. Other than that I can't help you out much. If the bore is not all shot out you should be able to get decent groups. If the bolt is smooth then you are lucky. Check the parts including stock to see how many numbers match. xtell
  16. Welcome to the CZ club. I shoot 452's and like then a lot. Mostly CMP three position shooting. Consider a scope with an adjustable objective and fine crosshairs. Check out the Clearidge brand of scopes (duplex - mil dot - fine croshair). They have been catching on in the rimfire shooting matches.
  17. Welcome to the forum. Good to hear that you got back to your reloading press!!! xtell
  18. Well. I went ahead and got the Clearidge 3 x 9 scope with the fine crosshair. I have it mounted on one of my 22 rimfire rifles and so far it is working out real good. The optics are clear from edge to edge, Parallax focus via the Adjustable Objective is good. It has accurate semi-target adjustment knobs and I did the box test to check adjustments and they were very accurate.I ordered it over the phone on a monday afternoon and it was at my door by Thursday.Time will tell, but so far so good.
  19. Wayne, Locally, Northern Ohio, I've been seeing powder, bullets and primers coming back in stock. Seems like the only ammo in short supply is 22 rimfire. When it is in stock, the kind I use, CCI standard velocity is double in price from last fall. Common caliber ammo is available about 1-1/2 times as high as last fall. I used to laugh at the high price of Weatherby ammo. Now the other brands / calibers have caught up.
  20. I like the fact that you can change out the handles. Bullet seating made easier.
  21. The only Mueller that looked promising was their 2 x 7-32 Multi-Shot but it has a parallax setting of 100 yds. I shoot CMP three position rimfire sporter and the distances are 50 yds and 25 yards. The Vortex Diamondback 2 x 7 - 35 rimfire is listed as 14.2 ounces. That would put me real close, with rings, to the 7.5 pound limit I have to be under for pre match weight inspection. The Clearidge is listed as 11.9 ounces and has an Adjustable Objective for Parallax correction down to 10 feet. Looks promising, but no one I know or see at the shooting ranges has one and they are only sold via the actual company that imports them and an interner retailer. I'd just hate to drop the money on an unknown item. May have to bite the bullet / open the wallet and consider a Leupold Rimfire EFR 3 x 9. I have two other Leupolds that have been real good.
  22. I've shot Marlin XT-22 and Savage Mark II bolt guns, along with my CZ 452 and they are fairly smooth when working the bolt. Strange how that Ruger would be so stiff picking up a cartridge. Wonder if it would smooth out after some use? This one has me puzzled?
  23. I've been looking at several rimfire specific scopes for my CZ 22 rifle, one of which is the Clearidge RM 3-9 x 32 AO fine crosshair. The scope would mainly be used for 3 - position target shooting (CMP) at 25 and 50 yards and occasional small game hunting. Anyone have any opinions / experience with this specific scope? xtell
  24. BarryinIN, Was the bolt stiff due to tight tolerances as it moved through the reciever or do you think the cartridge was pressing on the bottom of the bolt causing friction?
  25. Put a wood stock, like the 77/22, on it and I'd consider it. Then again, most shooters I see like the plastic stocks now a days. Have to make what sells.
