  1. ADFD,

    Welcome!

I own both the 870 Wingmaster and the 870 Express. They share many (most) parts in common. The finish on the barrels/receivers are one major difference. The Wingmaster line is blued for a more premium look, while the Express line has a non-reflective black matte finish. The matte finish doesn't look as nice, but it's much more durable. I reload my own trap loads and my hulls are about the dirtiest you've ever seen. There just isn't a problem with ejecting these hulls from either shotgun, so I wouldn't consider ease of ejection as part of your purchasing criteria.

  2. I've been a one-eyed shooter my whole life and have decided to change to two-eyed (both eyes open). I've finding the transition very difficult. Seems that no matter what I try, my eyes want to look at the target and front bead at the same time. When this happens chaos in the brain ensues. Has anyone change successfully? If so do you have any pointers for me?

    Thanks,

    Wayne

  3. I cast 230g RN bullets from wheel weight lead for 45ACP. I let the bullets age harden for at least 45 days before shooting. I use xlox from lsstuff in Idaho with great results. I still get a slight bit of leading in the first inch of the breech end of the barrel. Does anyone know if leading with wheel weight lead is just unavoidable?

  4. I shoot at a club that only allows steel shot. I have been reloading steel for about a year with no problems. I just cleaned my barrel (870 Remington) for the first time in about a month. I was shocked to see some pretty major scratches from the forcing cone to about 3" past the forcing cone. There is also minor forcing cone erosion. These scratches are new in the last month. I'm wondering if I loaded some loads in the last month with the shot over the wad peddles? I use the VP-51, which is made for steel. Is there a rule of thumb for the level of shot in the shot cup?
