  1. Herter's is a Cabela's brand and is, in fact, Tula.
  2. That's why I roll my own ammo, any flavor I feel like I make.
  3. I've shot Tula ammo in my SKS with no issues but that's not 9mm. It's steel cased if you care. I think it would be fine for plinkin' ammo.
  4. My shotgun cleaning kit matches your shotgun

    Semi Auto 22

S&W just announced a full 9mm sized M&P .22 pistol that looks like fun. Link I have a Ruger Mk. III competition target that shoots like a dream.
  6. Hornady and Graf's both market/sell Ultrasonic cleaners that are identical to Harbor Freight's silver $59 unit. The only difference is theirs costs $40 more. I have one and it seems to work good. For me it has more utility than a tumbler because I can clean other parts in it. For instance I had some gummed up 10/22 magazines that I tossed in with dish detergent. After 16 minutes they were spotless.

  8. A "hot wire" is generally preferred for cutting that type of foam. I'd trace the gun with a sharpie then cut.

    Some pistol trivia.

    Sig target pistol?
  10. Strange, but they do seem to rub some people the wrong way. There are plenty of alternative so vote with your dollars somewhere else.
  11. Except for an odd situation ammo order I've had zero issues with Midway. What were you trying to order?
  12. Local gun shop. It's made by Gunslick http://www.gunslick.com/products/accessories/cleaningrods/onecarbonfiberrod.aspx
  13. I recently bout a one piece carbon fiber cleaning rod to replace a 3 piece brass rod. I didn't know what I'd been missing; it's more flexible but in a good way.
  14. This has Pablo's Pig Huntin' Service written all over it.
  15. I ended up mounting a Vortex Viper 6-24x44 AO on my .22-250. It's a very nice scope with great tactical style turrets. I'm impressed with it so far. I got it on clearance for about $120 off.
  16. I just purchased a Redfield 4-12x40 for my K31. My out-of-the-box impressions are that it's well made, the fit and finish are excellent. The only plastic on the scope are the windage and elevation knobs. It's a very basic, no frills scope. It has a nicer fit and finish than the more expensive Mueller 4-16x50 AO I purchased just prior to the Redfield. The Millet scope rings that I recieved to mount the redfield on the other hand...one of the threads in the base was not threaded correctly. I have to call Millett tomorrow.
  17. Why are people compelled to make instructional videos then fill it with terms like "thingy", "stuff" and "I don't know". Would be be too much to ask to either not bother with the video or maybe (crazy idea) learn the names of the parts your talking about.
  18. The big ring allows manual cocking and also you pull and rotate it 90* into a slot for the "safe" position which disconnects the sear and blocks the firing pin from moving forward.
  19. ...and he's flying a Utah Guard plane.
  20. I bought a Swiss K31 rifle a couple of weeks ago. They have a unique straight pull bolt that works well and they are made with the quality the Swiss are known for. It's chambered in 7.5x55 Swiss which is a right in between a .308 and .30-06 and uses .308 diameter bullets for reloading. They often have a name tag under the butt plate. The Swiss Army keeps their rifles and a sealed ammo pack at home for many many years and may have only ever been issued to one person. My rifle was once issued to Josef Muller, born in 1934. He was a Train Soldier in the 4th company, 80 battalion in Bennenmoos, Mühlrüti, SG Mine was made in 1952. They typically have beaten up stocks but the metal and bore is in great condition. I cleaned and lightly sanded the stock then oiled and waxed it. I wanted to clean up the finish but leave the character. I made a very short video of the unique straight pull action:
  21. I figured he was a Air National Guard or Reservist. Looks like Utah ANG. Side note: The viper pilot is wearing the Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System (JHMCS) that displays tons of info on the visor. Neat system.
