  1. JSharp, Were it me, and I planned to shoot that thing a lot regularly, I'd find someway to smooth that "pebble finish" into something less abrasive! Bob
  2. Do cleaning in my shop/wellhouse, outside the home. Usually do step outside before any major "hose downs" with B cleaner. Personally prefer "CRC Brakleen", as, while still odoriferous, it's non-flamable. Speaking of use as a gun cleaner, and professionally when installing brakes. Bob
  3. I'd kinda like to get to be a "Supreme Master Blaster" one a these days! Bob
  4. Izzat UP or Down from Florida
  5. http://bobmarvelcustomguns.com/ This is the web site that produces the world's finest 1911's! Bob
  6. HEY! I made it to "Newbie" also! Without too terribly many of those post boosters. What's next? Bob
  7. Have shot thousands over the years. Excellent moderate velocity plinkers. Tearing plating is possible if case mouth's aren't belled a bit. Plating can also "crack" if too much crimp is used. A bit of experimentation with bell and crimp, and they're great bullets. I like them for near max loads in 44mag blaster ammo. Reasonably accurate and NO LEADING! Bob
  8. Two different posts about two different S&W's that had to go back for warranty problems,,,,,, , , , , ,, , Something wrong with this picture? Bob
  9. Think I'd want it to go back to the dealer for a replacement! I'd never feel confident in that one. Also, see thread in pistol forum on S&W failure. Bob
  10. Better'n a jab in the eye with a sharp stick. Bob
  11. Never been overly fond of rubber grips. Though I much prefer Hogue to Pachmayer (sp). Do have custom Hogue exotic wood grips on 3 different Pythons. ONLY select parts of the female anatomy feel better! Bob
  12. Bob Marvel did develop and begin marketing. Sold the patent or something. Someone else is actually building them now (I think). Bob
  13. Gonna throw in a "plug" for My Nephew, Joe Chambers here. Joe's apprenticed to Mr. Bob Marvel in Crete NE. They are engaged in building the finest custom 1911's in the world. Each is a work of art, not to mention absolute reliability, function, and accuracy. Marvel Custom Guns has been in business for near 30 years, Joe has been there about 2. He's now serving his probation period for acceptance (1 year) into "The American Pistolsmiths Guild". While Springfield's custom shop, or Kimber's custom guns are nice, they in no way compare to these each one one of a kind built masterpieces. Had Joe do his magic on a Colt Combat Masterpiece, slick as owl $hit on glass, and too pretty to shoot (though I do occasionally) Also had him do a trigger tune up on an old 1970's Bill Wilson gun. Most would love to have a rifle trigger this crisp and clean. If you are planning to have a 1911 built, or just some re-work, give these guys a look. Bob Reed
  14. Been using it for years. Will dull the finish of the plastics used for pistol front sight inserts, and I'd keep it off of Pachmyer type rubber grips. Pretty mild otherwise, and does a great job on gunk. The one you must use VERY carefully is CARB CLEANER! Bob
  15. Good to have ya, But DARN, we need more southerners!! Begining to feel like a minority here! Bob
  16. I've seen them, a bit ckunky, but reasonably well finished for the cost. Built like a crowbar sturdy feeling. Bob
  17. Personal top-of-the-wish-list would be a U. S. M3 Grease Gun,, Can't afford that either! Bob
  18. I'd say just the opposite! Least here in Arkansas most all deer hunting is done from some elevated position (even if it's just the seat of your super-lifted pickup ). Usually for varmits you're stretched flat of your tummy behind a bush (less you're still in the seat of that pickup )! Bob
  19. Do those change when you're shooting at a Coyote? Bob
  20. Anyone got any idea what the going rate would be for one of them in the modern market? Have to be out of sight! Bob
