  1. If you truly have a bbl issue send it to Glock and have them assess. They may well warranty the bbl. It should shoot better than that. You may have to get a factory authorized aromorer to do it for you.

Just finally got around to shooting it over this past weekend. Very much like the gun. Great value overall. The trigger was by no means a target or custom piece; it's a bit stiff. But it's not creepy by any means; generally smooth. As for weight of pull, I have to "guess" it at about 5-6 lbs? I don't have a scale for that. If they get that cheap again, I just might have to pick another up.
  3. Just got one of these at RK! http://core15rifles.com/core15-m4-scout-rifle.html No - it's not a RRA, Stag or such. But it's a heck of lot cheaper, too. I already have a very well equiped RRA M-4 and an older A2 style Bushy HBar. I don't need another top-end piece. This rifle is really well built, and has all the basics such as forged upper/lower, etc. It is to be a plinker for my son and I. I will note that I didn't know much about the CORE brand until I read a recent article in G&A magazine. They were reviewing the new top-tier "HardCore" rifle model form CORE. In the article, they mentioned a few things that caught my eye: 1) CORE now makes all bbls in house with the same quality standards for all rifles regardless which model it goes in; they are held to .0003" tolerance (3x tighter than mil-spec) 2) they 100% inspect all incoming forgings 3) they make most of the parts in house, for quality control purposes (they do buy the small, low value items such as the springs, balls, etc). 4) the author of the article walked with the factory armorer, who picked up two examples of the least expensive model (the Scout which I just bought) and fired five-shot groups with each. Both rifles printed at less than 1-MOA right off the production rack! All for $630 out the door at Rural King. Oh - it has a lifetime transferrable warranty, too. Earlier this year I got a DPMS value-priced model for $700 out the door, and I thought it was a steal then. Now this CORE for $630 out the door? Remeber just two years ago ARs were S-T-U-P-I-D expensive, if you could get your hands on one at all. Patience pays off. I got two quality made ARs this year for less than what it would have cost me for one just a short time ago. Now is the time to buy an AR; any AR. While the panic has subsided and the news topics are focused elsewhere ... .

Just bought one of these on sale at RK ... https://us.armscor.com/products/1911-standard-gi $349 on sale; $375 out the door! No - it's not a Kimber or Nighthawk, etc. But then it doesn't cost nearly as much either. It is to be a range toy and not a carry piece, although to be honest the build quality seems more than sufficient to serve as such, but simply has no frills.
  5. The statistical math intrigues me! That it's combined with firarmes makes it all the more interesting. May have to try this at home!
  6. Sorry to hear it; I presume you were close with him. Not that it's any consolation, but suicide is often hard to understand, regardless of the circumstances. I can only offer condolences for any loss you feel.
  7. Welcome to BITOG lite, Chris! I concur with Bill; I'd not live in a repressive state. Although slowly, the SC is beginning to push the reality that our 2nd Amendment is meant for everyone, everywhere. In IN, we can have: PPP (personal proptection permits; both open and concealed carry) NFA machineguns and sub-machineguns NFA SBR (short bbl rifles) NFA suppressors (silencer) NFA AOW (any other weapon) Any caliber of handgun, shotgun, rifle What we cannot have: NFA SBS (short bbl shotgun)
  8. Let's just agree he was in manufacturing; the origin of the nature tends to waver a bit each time I ask at the Glock recert classes. Does not really matter to me. I'll concede that I was not there when he started; I don't know him personally. I neither love nor hate the man. But I surely love his product!
  9. It's the cover story for G&A mag this month. Nice write up. My only complaint about this is the price. This is essentially a limited-application weapon. I could spend that same amount on two rifles (AR-15 and a bolt action) and get the same use from them.
  10. Hello lever/mola! same dnewton3 here. The only lever I have is a Marlin 336c in .30-30. I have toyed with the idea of getting a nice little .22lr lever; perhaps a Henry one day.
  11. Yeaaahhhhh ... that's right. That's the ticket ...
  12. The Glock pistol was designed by a man in plastics looking to get into a new discipline for monetary gain. The Glock has few, if any, real problems (most are imagined). If the Glock were not a robust concept, then why does everyone now offer some form of flattery? My point is that who designs it does not assure any success or failure. Good, and bad, ideas come from many sources. The alternative would be a gun designed by committee; that typically leads to a whole host of compromises that ultimately make no one happy, and everybody a bit upset.
  13. It is my understanding that the bill has a provision that preempts any local ord; means Chicago cannot pull thier typical BS. Congrats! Those of us who have had CCW forever welcome you to the world of personal defense outside the home. Now - if you all can get suppressors and SMGs, you'll be equal with us Hoosiers ...
  14. Looks nice. Kind of reminds me of my CX4 Storm, but pumped up on steroids a bit. Beretta has some nice features, and their tool-less take down systems are nice. My Storm is easily convertible from left to right hand (I'm a right'ie), but the clarity of thought and easy of service on my Storm are impressive. Seems like that concept played into this new rifle. Multi-caliber is very easy on the ARX100. However, the price puts me off. I just got a RRA-LAR for less than $1k brank new. Not going to pay 2x that for something that shoots the same thing with the same efficiency and accuracy. But then again, my Storm wasn't cheap either.
  15. I'll try to remember to run a few when I get home. Might take me a few days ... busy the next few nights. Where are you at in IN? I might be willing to ship you one as a loaner for trial if you wanted to pay shipping both ways? But for that price, you could just about buy one and try yourself.
  16. Went out yesterday and ran the mags. I loaded up a few mags and ran about 100 rounds as fast as I could pull the trigger and swap mags. My goal was to heat up the bolt/receiver area as much as I could, and then "heat soak" the new magazine by letting it sit in there. I was looking for the feed lips to fail in some manner. Heating and warping or otherwise yielding and not holding form. Or, bending up and getting shaved by the carrier coming forward. Or allowing rounds to escape by popping loose. Or any other such silliness. Nothing melted. Nothing warped. Nothing failed. They fit well, they are finished well, and they lock in and only come out when you depress the release. I am pleased. Enough so that I just ordered 10 more. I would have taken pictures, but frankly they would not have shown anything but what you can see in any photo. There was no discernible change at all. Photos would have been interesting only if a notable failure had occured. I don't know that I'd choose them over a P-mag in a battle, but then to be fair that would probably be an unfounded fear. For range use, and a low cost (at least in today's market) I given them a thumbs-up.
  17. I can't justify that price for a rifle, of that design. I like bullpups, for not for 4-large!
  18. I bought two and the shipping was FAST! Ordered on Wednesday and got them Friday in the mail. Kudos to Matt for his quick service. Initial thoughts ... Mags seem well finished; no badly produced seams or rough edges. Spring tension seems OK but have not loaded up a mag yet. The mags fit decently into the mag well. They have good upward tension to hold open the bolt when cycled. While these may not be what I'd put in the tac-vest for responding to a critical incident (prefer MagPull or such), I think these would be perfect for inexpensive range/practice mags. I'll report on these after an opportunity to fire with them. My greatest concern is how they will hold up to heat in fast, rapid cycling. Will the feed lips hold up and not crack or melt? It's too cold out right out now to get outside and mess with it. But should warm up later this week. Might be able to try over Easter weekend and post after that.
  19. My shootin' buddy nearby has a Kimber bolt action in .223 to match his .308; he did that on purpose to set the guns up identically so he would practice with the lesser expensive .223 and would have the same feel when transitioning to the .308. If I read that link right, the Moss comes with a scope? Not a bad deal for $860. But for a gun purportedly so accuract, I'd wonder about the quality of the scope embedded in that price. I think it's hard to beat the combination of savage accuracy with excellent accu-trigger and cost. Then add the scope of your choice.
  20. That price is enticing. Might be worth buying a few just to try at that low cost.
